Wend Report 20 Dec 2011 20:57

I sob like a blithering idiot at the end of 'Billy Elliott' - not because it's sad, but because I feel so proud of him having, at last, become a success in the world of ballet and his dad, brother and best friend are all there in the audience to proudly witness it.

Shelli

Shelli Report 20 Dec 2011 21:30

Just remembered an oldie - From Here to Eternity when Montgomery Clift plays the last post after Frank Sinatra's character died. He had tears down his cheeks as did I many many moons ago.

Julia Report 22 Dec 2011 16:44

Vera, is that the film where Frank Sinatra says to Montgomery Cliff
"Play Taps for me, Play Taps", which he does on the bugle. That expression gets me every time, which ever film it is from

Julia in Derbyshire

PS Frank Sinatra did alot of dying, aswell as singing LOL

Vera2010

Vera2010 Report 22 Dec 2011 17:06

Julia

Just googled 'taps' as I am ignorent of Military jargon. I don't remember that but it is likely because I don't remember them filming together any other time. It was the one with Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr and that scene on the beach. Or am I getting muddled - iit was 50 years+ ago

V sad any way. I might try to get it on DVD for xmas.
