This lovely friendly person from OZ has changed her board name to GraceB08..

Why?

Because she has received a couple of not very nice Pms from people criticising her name .. remarks like it being a stupid name and fancy having tickets on yourself etc.. Her board name is her daughter's name and her daughter is an amazing gorgeous little girl (picture on her avatar)

"Gracie" did not think her name was offensive, but she has changed it in the hope that people will leave her alone.

You hear of teenagers and school children using bullying tactics, I don't expect it be seen here amongst adults with interests in genealogy.

I hope whoever you maybe are suitably ashamed of yourselves.

I have put some thought into suitable board names for those who delight in this type of antisocial behaviour.

Quite difficult to come up with anything suitable which won't get me banned!!

Hi Perse, some people are despicable. Totally uncalled for. I am sorry that she has been upset. I would suggest that, if she gets any more such PMs she send them straight to admin support and ask for the person/people to be blocked. I thought Amazing Grace was a beautiful name.

Thank you Persie for letting us know. I had noticed the change and wondered why.

This kind person has been helping me over the past weeks in an area that is out of my knowledge. How can anyone suggest anything negative about such lovely board name.

The complaint must reflect the negative attitude of the person who has made the unkind remarks, for me I could only think of the hymn when I read it....and if anyone thinks that is cheesy........tough.- jl

Beggars belief Persie but should not be surprised by these

I also thought the name was beautiful and of the hymn every

That's a shame, and how petty minded of some people. What's wrong with AmazingGrace? Its both a hymn and a description, and very apt.

I still can't see why they objected. I know why she changed but I'm afraid I would not have done so.

Please, "Gracie", change back to AmazingGrace08; and if you receive any more nasty messages, ask genes reunited to block the people that send them, then just ignore them and hold your head high :)

I only gave in and changed the name because I really don't want to be offensive to anyone (or I try not to be!) I love this site because I really really enjoy family history, and people and have made lots of very nice lovely friends. I know computers can enable people to be a bit snipey as they wouldn't say it to your face but I always kind of think it happens on FB or is a teenage thing.

I will...go and change it back!

I always liked to see Amazing Grace as said above it also made me think of the song which is lovely, just like the little girl in lilac . x
