Thank you Kay for the info re child proof doors, like TW I didn't know but guessed that might be the case ( and I couldn't imagine that three kids who were able to get out, would have stayed in a hot car that long without going to see where mum was!)

KempinaPartyhat Report 7 Jul 2011 21:21

RR and Kay.................

If the doors are locked from the outside anyone on the inside will set off the alarms ...IF however the doors are locked from the inside with an over ride button often with a key mark on it then the people on the inside will not set off the alarm!!

Muffyxx Report 7 Jul 2011 21:25

It's all irrelevant anyhow.

If she hadn't left the children unattended in the first place.. the whys and wherefores of the central locking wouldn't be an issue ! x

Silly Sausage Report 7 Jul 2011 21:29

Hot or snow, she is stupid if she left 3 chil;dren in a car...aged between 2 -8 ..I wonder how many times the 8 yr old had fiddled with the gear stck and pedals before playing with the horn? Of course could be none, how long did it take to draw attention too, how long before the police was contacted and arrived and decided the correct action to take? Why did she leave them in the car? If the 8 year old could get out of the car, what happened if he stepped in front of moving van? All questions that really shouldnt need to be asked....she is an irresponsable muppet.

KempinaPartyhat

KempinaPartyhat Report 7 Jul 2011 21:34

I totally agree with you but my point is did she tell them to lock the doors!! from the inside to stop the alarm going off .....in which case it makes it worse coz she would have probably have then said ...and dont get out!!!

And at some point here we said about the 8 year old being able enough to get out or get attention
She deserves what she gets and lets hope they punish her

Notice that there aren't a heap of members leaping on this thread to defend this stupid woman or to say 'we have all done it'.

That's a step forward.

It is said the home is the most dangerous place for children

- more children are injured or die from accidents etc in the home than elsewhere.

Interesting

Muffyxx Report 7 Jul 2011 21:50

Awww a few moments at a petrol garage I can totally understand Kemp.

Never did it meself cos I was always too paranoid..but don't have an issue with children strapped into car seats where they can't cause havoc ..in a locked car for two to three minutes while you sorted your petrol. but PLEASE 45 minutes !!!!!!!! WTF !!!!!!!!

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 7 Jul 2011 21:52

Yes if the key was out of the ignition the children would not have been able to open the doors or the windows. But they should not have needed to of course. They should not have been left there at all.

KempinaPartyhat

KempinaPartyhat Report 7 Jul 2011 21:54

BUT sorry ladies thats my very point ........you cant lock my car from the outside when people are in it !!!!!! therefore its left unlocked with kids inside ..I now face the same problem when I have my grandson so I do try to find a pay at the pump station!

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 7 Jul 2011 21:57

hmmmmm the way I see it you have two options.....Change your car to one where you can lock passengers in...or get the petrol when you don't have your grandson in the car lol x

KempinaPartyhat

KempinaPartyhat Report 7 Jul 2011 22:02

Yes Muffy thats what I now do .....and its no problem ...so back to my concern ....this woman must have told that poor kid to lock the doors!!! and all I can say to that is what a .............................!

supercrutch

supercrutch Report 7 Jul 2011 22:26

You can lock our car with someone in it. In fact if himself walks away from the car with the electronic fob it locks automatically.

There are too many central locking possibilities to speculate.

Kay????

Kay???? Report 7 Jul 2011 22:40

if the police has to remove any lone child/children from a parked locked or unlocked vechile with no responsible person in sight then it has to be in their opinion a serious situation and a serious enough case for them to concider a neglect case.

KempinaThermalhat

If you think this child is continuing to be abused report it again to Social Services even though you have done so in the past. It may highlight something they are not aware of.

it doesnt matter why she left them, wether they locked themselves in or she did, if they sounded the horn in fun or to gain attention

its NEGLECT end of and she needs the book throwing at her,
