I too was concerned, hence my comment about the doctor. I wouldn't have a lot of faith if I was Joyce. I don't think there is another doctor as it 's a small village and when he has a holiday there is no one on hand (at least I think that's what Joyce has said in the past)
Sylvia, yes Sheringham by the sea lol My mother spent a lot of her teenage years and twenties in Cromer and around the area, becoming a Landgirl in Trunch when the war was on (Mum born in 1916) so it's sort of a sentimental area for me too. Doesn't sound very exciting to only travel a few miles from home to spend so much on a rental but a change is as good as a rest and if I don't have to cook dinner every evening, and wash up after, it will be a rest as well lol
Just hope the weather stays nice for us, I was reading it was going to be flaming June yesterday but today I read that the forecast has changed again lol Knowing my luck it will chuck it down with rain all week, especially as o.h. had picked the coming week for a holiday and I made him change it. He works alternate late and early shifts and had we gone next week I would have had three weeks of him with a week either side of the holiday cooking dinners so I wanted my week of Lates next week to get things ready in peace and quiet and to be able to eat what I like and when I like and the same the week after the break. Sod's law being selfish will come back and bite me on the rear end!
I will pm you the details Sylvia as these are places built in the 70s so would not have been there years ago.
Hope Joyce will be ok - will make contact later today if I get the chance.

Liz, I got so carried away thinking of your holiday, I forgot to send best wishes to Joyce and hope she soon feels well again.
Those long journeys to see family and friends can take it out of you, especially if like Joyce you have medical problems. Airports are a nightmare these days, but I bet she thinks it worth it when she recovers.
Keep smiling Joyce!

Hi Liz, I guessed where you were going, and the Sainsbugs confirmed it.
OH born there, we used to go up evey Saturday when M.I.L was still alive, we should go more often as OH stil has rellies there and we're just over an hours drive away. We went there last year when I was looking for a wedding outfit for my nephews wedding,( in the land of Mau..xx)
I often used to say to OH it would be nice to stay in one of those old fishermen' cottages for a week (he and his mother and siblings could name all of the families who lived in them) but no response so I will think of you, because come rain or shine you will find plenty to do.
Sylvia C. ,

Joyce, I sometimes wonder if your doctor knows what he is doing? Surely you need things investigated more instead of just dishing out more and more medication and pain relief.
Are you drinking more water still or have you forgotten lol
Hope you are sleeping right now, talk to you soon
love Lizxx
I was checking something on the site for the 'cottage' we are renting and think we got a bargain price, as it was already a special offer of £499 for our week and I got him down to £399. In August the one remaining week is up for £999 !!!!!!! I know the place sleeps 8 but for heaven's sake. This isn't the only place he rents out, imagine the money coming in if it's booked up most of the summer and beyond. I know there are outgoings but even so....... The houses are 1970s built but look newer to be honest so will be staying in some luxury.

Sending hugs to Dutch, i hope she can get sorted out ASAP. If she is retaining fluid from kidney issues, it certainly would put pressure to heart and lungs and compromise her breathing. When my daughter had terrible leg cramps, we found that drinking tonic water (as it contains quinine) helped a lot. Taking ones daily calcium tablets at bedtime rather than in the morning also helps reduce nighttime cramps. If you check in Joyce, we care about you. Try and behave!! Love, Mary

Huia, yes of course, you can come and save me from the boredom of a week with o.h. lol That's why I am glad there is plenty to do around the place we are going to, so I can take an afternoon to myself if I want and browse the shops and chat to people. Hopefully my son might come one day and stay over, I will take a sleeping bag with me in case and he can sleep on one of the unmade beds in the two spare rooms or on the sofa. He is unlikely to have found a job by then so will be a chance for a little change of scene for him as well.
I will try your unplugging suggestion if the computer freezes on me again, am so scared of messing it up tho as it would be all my fault and life would be so miserable if I didn't have this to play on lol
Oh I hear noises from upstairs, he is obviously getting up for work so bye for now

Liz, I am so glad you found a place you like. Perhaps if I win the Lotto before you go I can come and stay with you for the week?
My computer sometimes freezes, so I usually just unplug the power supply and then after a pause plug it in again and start it up again.

Persie, I had visions of him being in a box with a corrugated iron lid lol Funnily enough he works at a factory that makes corrugatged cardboard, he maintains and repairs the computerised machines that make the board.
Well on Monday we went to look at the outside and locations of several holiday cottages, and have booked a fairly new house for a week in a small seaside town around 20 miles away. It's somewhere we go sometimes for an afternoon out but to stay there and eat at the various pub restaurants or other eateries will be really nice and an old work colleague of mine from 30 years ago, living there, who I keep in touch with by Christmas card and who is in her 70s now, will be a port of call too. We say every year in the card that we must meet up so I can put that into practice at last. We just never made the time or the arrangements before.
The house is lovely, four large bedrooms all with tv, a lounge and a snug and nice gardens front and back and only a few minutes walk from the sea or the shops etc but should be quiet as in a culdesac and not near a busy road. Nice kitchen but I don't plan to spend much time in there! Some of the ones we looked at had no parking nearby and were poky and near busy places so we plumped for the nice one and when I rang to say we wanted to use it I asked if the price was the best he could do, so he said he would let us have the whole week for the 4 day price and knocked £100 off. I still think it's a lot of money £400 a week but some places are more expensive than that. The owner has several in the town and other members of his family own some holiday homes too, his cousins have the houses either side of the one we booked - they are in a terrace of three in a little culdesac off another culdesac so pretty private and quiet and hopefully no noisy families booking either side while we are there lol The owner actually lives opposite a woman I worked for for a few years, in a village not far away so will be more or less on hand should any problems occur. It's £2.50 each extra for a bath towel and a hand towel per week and £11 each for bedlinen but it saves me having to make up beds or have extra washing when we get home! It will be so nice to be away from these four walls and I will have a bedroom and big bed to myself so will be getting to bed earlier as no computer to play on and therefore getting up and out in the fresh air, so exercise and vit d for me that week. Just hope the sun shines, it was very cloudy when we got there yesterday and then it poured with rain as we started for home so will order better weather for week beg. 11th June and you will all have to behave so I don't miss anything lol as I will be out of touch unless I can sneak off and find an internet cafe!
One of the places we looked at in the next town was a little cottage I fell in love with a few years ago when I had a yen to move house, but couldn't sell mine to get it. I was tempted to say we would take that one but I am not sure I would feel right about being in there for just a week and it was very small too and I prefer the town we are going to as well. Lots of nice little quirky shops as well as the usual shops for any town, a small Sainsburys where the old Woolworths was when we last visited about three years back. Hadn't realised it was so long since we were there so new places to see and plenty to do in the area or just a few miles drive along the coast, a theatre at Cromer, a Zoo which I have never been to even tho I have lived so close most of my life and lots of other things so won't get bored. Oh and the house apparently has lots of books for rainy days so I am sure I will find at least one to keep me occupied.
Better get to bed now, the computer froze a while ago so had to wait till o.h. got up to sort it out for me before he went to work.
Take care everyone
love Lizxx

Oh Dear Joyce
You really must look after yourself coaches are not for lurching around in... and yes we need to keep our fluid intake up, I am the same.... I had my first trip in an ambulance last Monday - ever such nice young paramedics worth having an asthma attack for. I could breathe in I just could not breathe out again... it was bleedin' awful. So the hospital gave me xrays, ECG and blood tests and as I was there through lunch time they gave me some food as well. So dear Joyce drink more water, stop lurching and massage or get someone to massage your legs for you. You have got to stop these cramps so as to keep yourself mobile,
Liz he should have a box with a corrugated iron lid... they last for ages.
Tell him Persie said so.

You are welcome Joyce, keep drinking the water and eat less sugary stuff and you might feel a lot better. You may well have lost a bit more weight, but will be easier for your legs and feet perhaps. I haven't lost much but hope if we sort out a holiday I can do a bit more walking and lose a few pounds.
I was so tired after looking at so many sites so slept in but o.h got up yesterday, went to see his dad and came back, and instead of waking me or looking at the places I had sent details of, he went out and did some work on a wooden box that was rotting in the garden, he uses it to store some gardening stuff. He cut a good bit of ordinary mdf into a new lid but managed to make it barely fit so the water will run down inside the box, and the mdf isn't waterproof so it will soon rot anyway. What a waste of a sheet of mdg and of his time. He had a look at the places I picked out and knocked the idea of Devon on the head, said it's too far to drive, so it will be one of the local places. We are supposed to be going round to look at some this afternoon to get a better idea of their locations then we can ring the chosen owner and book. The forecast today is rain and more rain, lovely! I might manage to persuade him to buy me dinner out tho so will save me cooking and washing up lol
Will keep you posted.
take care Joyce, and hope the clinic are pleased with you

Hugs to joyce and hoping she is feeling a bit better.
Devon is lovley liz, we are in Essex and it is a bit of a trek.
How sweet about the hedgehog, we had one on our drive last year. The local infact school is just across the road and I heard little voices outside. I popped out he front and a couple of Mums and thier children were gathered onthe drive very worried about a little hedgehog who they thought was dead. It wasnt, just a bit scared I think. I got some gardening gloves and picked it up while they all had a look and took him to the back hedge in the garden where he wandered off.

Well I am still on the computer, with my head and eyes spinning! Have looked at so many late deal/availability sites and sent details of several hopefuls to o.h. to read when he gets up, he can do a short list of his choices and I will see which ones he likes.
As we are only taking a week right now he won't want to drive far but there is one nice place in Devon and with the reduced price it wouldn't cost much more including the petrol than taking a place locally, it's just the length of time driving and he's not too keen on driving far these days. Sheffield was far enough he said the other day, oh dear, this place in Devon is twice as far!
Lovely morning but I need sleep.
Oh by the way, I have a visiting hedgehog again, been coming for most of the week so I started putting out peanuts and dog food (purchased especially) but really I shouldn't get it reliant on me for food if I am disappearing for a week. I do love them tho. The blackbirds have just finished off the few bits of food the hedgehog left behind.
Off to bed now, night all lol Lizx

Good idea, Huia, I could always leave him home alone and take trips out but wouldn't trust him not to cut down the hazelnut tree he is threatening to lop or turf out some of my plants from their tubs lol He is lethal when left to his own devices too long. One year I went to stay with my cousin in Buckinghamshire, he had with my help and that of the neighbour erected a new garden fence which he wanted to paint while I was away. He duly reported by phone how well he was doing, but I was heartbroken to get home a few days later to find that during the heatwave the paint had dried well but so had all my favourite plants I had left outside for the summer. Two beautiful red hibiscus plants with great sentimental value were withered and died and other plants needed emergency tlc. Oh well you didn't expect me to water and paint the fence, did you? was his response. Doh! Now he is diabetic it's important he eats regularly, but I have known him get engrossed in a project or job outside and forget to eat. He will do jobs necessitating the water being turned off but never fills the kettle and jugs before he starts so he can have a drink or whatever. Hopeless he is! It was ok when he wasn't diabetic but now he is, he would be in a real state when I got back.
We are going to go through the shortlist later today when I get up. He was at work for 12 hrs on Saturday so too tired to do anything when he got in except eat his dinner and sleep in front of the tv. We also plan to do some reccying on Monday to check locations out, as there is one house we like the look of but it appears to be on a main road which would be very noisy so we will go and look as it's only 30 miles away and we can make an outing of it.
Will keep you posted!

Liz, if you have to stay home for your hols, tell OH that you expect to be taken out for meals every night, and go on excursions by bus or train (if there are any suitable ones for you) as you will not have to spend money on accommodation. If he doesnt want to then do it by yourself.

Carol, that's naughty, you shouldn't have opened it yet!
Still haven't found the right venue for hols, and we should be away two weeks today lol
We will go through a shortlist tomorrow and sort something, otherwise it means staying home all week and him pottering and driving me nuts. I would like a change of scene and routine, and no cooking, meals out all week lol
Spoke with Joyce on Thursday evening briefly and she was coping, altho the cramp and pain in her feet is still awful.
