I have just heard from my brother in Belgium that his newspaper has reported that Prince Charles has this dreadful disease.

Has enyone heard this,or do you think that the continental papers are having a quiet news week?

I'd be disinclined to believe any report that contained the line

"Charles is married to a woman called Camilla Parker-Bowles, "

This news has also been reported recently in several American publications.

Hi Rose,I agree, but I didn't mention Camilla, although that was also in my E Mail from Belgium.

Where did you hear it? It wasn't in my newspaper.

Don't forget that we are only informed about these things when the powers that be think it the right time.

Maybe if it is factual even more research might be instigated into this ghastly problem.

Just over a year ago I spent 4 months in a re-hab ward with 6 beds in it. All the time I was there at least 4 beds had dementia patients of varying degrees in them (mainly they all had fallen and broken hips/knees etc).

One had been a headmistress and her condition was advanced, another was a sweet lady who wandered over to my bed one day, asked my name for about the 20th time, chatted away about this and that and suddenly it was like a light was switched on as she bent down and whispered 'life is a b...er when you get old'. I just burst out laughing.

It is very sad for the families.

Hi Annina I just googled 'prince Charles Alzheimers' interestingly the question was first being asked back in 2009

however at that time Charles was also saying this

"
Tribute: Charles praised those caring for Alzheimer's victims and the scientists searching for a treatment
Britain faces a 'catastrophic' burden from dementia in the future, the Prince of Wales has warned.
Prince Charles said scientists in the UK were at the forefront of 'our common battle against the bleak outlook' posed by the disease.
He praised the efforts of charities, campaigners and carers to 'lift the shroud of mystery' and dispel the stigma that surrounds the disease.
In a moving tribute to those affected by Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, the Prince said more than 700,000 Britons lived in hope of effective treatment while their 'devastated' loved ones were watching them slip away.
The Prince made his remarks in a written statement to more than 200 of the UK's leading scientists due to gather this week for the Alzheimer's Research Trust 10th annual conference at the Royal Institution in London.

It wouldn't be the first time a US publication got things wrong ?

I suppose UK residents will have to wait for the Sunday tabloids to hear the news second-hand.

I hope it's untrue.

How on earth would anyone other than the royal household know this info if it hasn't been released by the royal family in a statement ?

The foreign daily rags have got the publicity they wanted & sold a few copies, OFF with their heads !!

CrumblingCookie...but on that point Diana supported Aids, homeless charities, and campaigned against land mines...so doesn't figure that one has to be personally affected to support the charity?

Muffyxx Report 4 Feb 2011 19:04

Well in fairness the abdication was known about in the states long before it was here !!

In this instance though I think I'll take it with a pinch of salt.

The Daily Globe isn't a publication I've ever heard of..and looking at it online it appears to look like a bit of a celeb rag type thingy rather than a serious newspaper x

Rambling Report 4 Feb 2011 19:18

and i quote

" Camilla exposes his double life"
"Prince Charles is gay, he wed Diana as a cover up. shocking details he's hidden for 30 years...3 male lovers"

from cover of The Globe Sept' 2010.....

Now I don't know about you, but i reckon if he DID wed Diana as an alleged "cover up" he wouldn't have bothered to wed Camilla afterwards? just gone his own sweet way in peace and quiet :))

pure tosh of the "we've all been abducted by aliens at some point "type ;)

I don't like him either Joy and I'd be quite happy for it to pass directly to William.
