The church in my village was moved stone by stone to its current location to make it easier to worship.

This was done in 1855/56

Agatha Christie came here in 1927, to the Orchid Gardens. While she was staying here she wrote the synopsis for her book The Mysterious Mr Quinn which she based in Puerto de la Cruz.

a movie was made some years ago about the first female firefighter


it happened in Los Angeles

but was filmed here ......... with palm trees (some artificial) strategically placed on all outside sets

Atonement was filmed here.

It was interesting to walk down the prom during the evening and see all the film set on the prom and the beach.

Colin's mum taught me at Uni.
Alice Lysle was hanged here.
Keates was inspired by the place.

Ann, I saw the Severn Bore when I was in England.

Motown Gal, I have seen the bullet holes in the pub door.

All I can think of for my area is that the Hilary family kept bees in the hills many many years ago, and I think Sir Ed (he wasnt sir then) used to do a lot of tramping (trecking to you) in our hills. He and George Lowe came to give a talk at my High School before they went to Everest.

stetson walking up the gangway was my OH, blink

I live in a place called Fugglestone in Wiltshire

A monastery was founded here in early Saxon times, in which Ethelbert is said to have been buried. Afterwards a hospital for lepers was established on its site.

Nothing much here now except Army married quarters!! The land still belongs to the Earl of Pembroke..Wilton house is just down the road from me..

Dermott O leary went to the same College as my Daughter and still visits it from time to time.
