Dawnie....ewww!!! Thats good she won't eat raw meat, it should always be cooked, apparently raw meat causes worms, as do flea's.
How many chickens have you?

Potty...when in the vets the other day l saw their posters about all the things that are poisenous to dogs, yep grapse etc were there!!

Madoc is abit better, but still won't put foot full weight to the ground. The other vet is willing to operate, so we'll leave it till after christmas and see whats what!!

Hope they're are'nt too many nasty people throwing their animals out this christmas, or any time of course. If they do lets hope someone see's them and can atleast help the animal !!

Hi there.....
Madoc got back from vets this afternoon, abit wobbly and not quite ready for his missed breakie....he's now back to normal and eating as usual...but the results of the xray are'nt good.
because the vet from years ago did'nt do a proper job madoc's leg is out of alignment and the ankle joint has fused together, because madoc is an active dog he could break this easily!! so the xrays have been sent to another vet who knows more about bones. He may decide to operate on madoc and put a metal bit in which should result in less/no pain....the alternative is to leave him as he is and restrict him to 10-15min walks and stop him from playing, plus more pain killers etc etc....which is'nt madoc. So we wait now!!

Ours have James Wellbeloved Rice and Chicken and Paddy has a pro-biotice youghurt drink on his as he has a very sensitive stomach.

They love cheese but dried salmon skins are their very favourite, although expensive.

With Christmas coming up, please all remember that chocolate, grapes and sultanas are VERY dangerous for dogs, so no mince pies or christmas cake. If your dog does accidentally eat grapes or sultanas, get him/her to the vet immediately.

My springer is laid out on sofa snoring away.
She has Bakers weight control dry food, plus whatever she can get off of us and will push the cat out of the way and eat his food.

Her latest one is if we dont put the chairs back under the dining table she will jump on them ten onto table and see if anything is left.

She wont eat raw meat fat like the trimmings from stewing meat I have to boil them first and wont eat the skin off chicken and duck.

Shes very fond of eating eating the chickens droppings as well when we are cleaning out the bottom of their run she will try and get in there start eating away

Ann...yes thats right. Actually a friend of ours has about 8 huskies maybe more and he races them. He travels all over the place and l think now lives in Scotland. Our Son used to help with the training, they'd have 3 or 4 huskies on leads attached either to them or on the special bikes they rode, then off through the forest!!!

Jude are they the huskies that actually (not sure what to call it) run trails etc in the Forest?

Morning...l'd forgotten about this thread until Madoc put his head on my lap just now asking for his breakfast.....which he can't have cause he has an appointment at vets and may need xrays.......awww he's just gone off in the car, l could see him looking at me in the back wagging his tail. No doubt still thinking about his breakfast!!

He had an accident a few years before we had him. His back leg was badly injured and now arthritus has set in. Over the weekend he's been limping, which is not unusual, then Monday vic had to lift him over a fence and he landed badly and he limps very badly now. Took him to vet Monday who put him on another pain killer (permenantly on metacam), but it di'nt make any difference....so another check this morning and prob xrays!!

Hello Patricia...... One of my favourite dogs is German Shepherd, l used to take one with me everywhere when l was a child holidaying at Petworth Sx. The people l stayed with (every school hols) had kennels, King was their own, beautiful gorgeous dog:o)) he had a cauliflour ear!!
My favourite dog of all is the English Bullterrier, my mum bred them many many moons ago:o)

Madoc had another meeting with another Husky this morning!!! This one was off the lead, as was Madoc, his owner was riding a bike!! The Husky was fine but as he passed madoc, madoc decided to do his usual, down on his belly wagging his tail ready for a game, but Husky was'nt too pleased and madoc ended up with broken dew claw :o( he's fine now:o)

Jude, the shetland sheepdog is small, like a miniature rough collie or lassie dog. There are differences, which owners and breeders are quick to point out.

We owned a rough collie, and he was a lovely old boy, but nowhere near as intelligent as the sheltie girls we have had.

The rough had a skin condition. We had several trips to the vet, and a skin specialist for all the tests, but they were inconclusive. However, we put him on a low protein diet - James Wellbeloved, and the dreadful weeping areas clearled up. At one point we thought we would have to have him put down.

My current sheltie loves her dry Chappie, and anything else she can persuade us to part with!

Bob......had to shut madoc in kitchen earlier when postie came, he won't eat him, its just easier...he'll lick everyone to death...apart from anything that comes through letter box!!! lol

Brian...yuk...madoc will do that too, are'nt they orrid!!...lol about the toothbrush, but bloomin good idea:o)

Anglesong....don't see shetlands much now adays, is that the larger one?
strange how some dogs eat one thing and noth another....just like us l spose?

We have a number of Westies around here, nice little dogs:o)

l remember a Scottie that lived opposite me in Tangmere, l was calling at a house , bloomin dog bit me ankle:o((

Our two Labs have Eukanuba dried food, 100 grams morning and night.

In addition one has anything he can steal off the table or worktop and the other has whatever (you don't want to know what) she can find in the garden.

They both get their teeth cleaned every night.

Huskies are notorious thieves, mine was a process of elimination, apparently the fat is good for their coats, b*** hairs everywhere ! She wouldn't take any treats, chocs, so no bribing to come back, but would polish off the cat food and ignore her dinner . Hence the diet of choice.

The hardest one to feed was a miniature Yorkie , who would go without eating for days and then only take a thimbleful, she lived to be 20,so obviously knew what she wanted, but it used to worry me silly.

i suppose that postmen, flyposters,mormons and the like are off the menu?

I have just cleared up our garden.Finally the snow has melted a bit and I could see where he had been lol.Black bags here.I love this freezing weather ,it is so easy to poop scoop.

Morning all we have a Westie who is not a fussy eater
and are lucky he has no allergies as Westies are prone
to have. Loves dried Bakers in the morning and half a tin
of Bakers meat plus mixer for his evening meal, plus all
his treats, occasionally fish which we boil first. 3 years
old and a bundle of fun.

Nope that has'nt worked, he's charged off again. His owner is out in her pj's freezing.

Our little Cocker, who we sadly lost last week, mainly ate what we have. But she did have about £10 worth of 'treats' from the supermarket when OH was shopping each week, which included tripe sticks,marrowbone treats, and Dentu sticks for her teeth. I never tried her with fish, but when I was serving up food, if I dropped a chip or a piece of cheese, she would woof it down.

Talking of Huskies, just looked out to see one belt down the road and into neighbours garden, l went out and whistled he came and sniffed me and wooosh. He's been out there 10 mins now, a neighbour has shouted at hime and now vic has taken madoc to try and intice him....gawd hope thats a good thing to do.....jude
