Thanks Sylvia, I just opened a message and answered it....
and I say again WHY?
When I first came on here, about 5 years I think, it was an amazingly easy programme to work through.
AND, I was a complete novice on the pooter.
G** help anyone starting today, with the knowledge I had then.
Off to do some real work on my tree now.

click on the name not the message and you get the year of birth plus date of first contact

e.g.
Rating Regarding: David Robinson (1948)
Access to their tree:
Request Access to your tree: Allow
Date of first contact: 21st July 2009
Date last updated: 19th March 2010

i dont think that is a good idea at all , as you say if you want people to know your birth date you will tell them .

I just had two emails saying I had pms from Purple Diamond lol
Now I am not that sad that I need to pm myself, have enough trouble keeping up with all my messages as it is!

Have just sent gr a message saying how fed up I am with the changes they make that are no necessary or wanted.

Purple Liz, long time no speak. Yes, I have that also. When I look on my e-mails, it says I have PM contacted myself. Thought I was loosing the plot.

aaaghhh just tried to send a reply to a message I apparently sent to myself lol ( it wasn't me ) and my message went straight to 'Draft', only way forward was to press back button...what are they playing at :(

I only had my friends and some family tree names in my contacts, now I have everyone I have ever been in contact with, pages and pages. I have to go through every one now to find which ones to keep, I am so annoyed. I got a reply to my message to them yesterday, I can't see who would be 'suited' with the change.

We have reacted to feedback from our members to make these latest developments but inevitably, some of the changes suit certain member use more than others.

Well Caz, and all of us.... who exactly is it who keeps asking for these changes?
It is not me, it is not any of you, and none of my other friends on here seem to want these changes... SO, who is it who asks for them?

Ann I have just come out of messages and it was still the same, rubbish. I have been trying to sort my contacts out and it seems I sent a message to Daff asking her to open her tree???? It is not a term I would use, I'm more polite, so who sent it, I didn't.
I also found all my messages by clicking on the message title not the name, all sent and received messages are still there, mine are at least.
As for who is asking for these changes, no-one will ever know so it is a stock answer for what they want to do and we don't.
Every person who uses it should send in a complaint, they would have to change it back then.

still can't access my messges due to "site maintenance"

Must have a look at mine, because I never ask to look at peoples trees.
I really hate the list of contacts being added to my tree page.
They are mostly friends I have sent messages to.
They have nothing to do with my tree.

I've just now tried mine Ann and everything comes up. I never ask either Deanna which surprised me, also I have got names of people who contacted me to ask me to open my tree. It will take ages to sort out and get my normal contacts back, why can't they leave things alone, it just goes from bad to worse.

Maybe it is while they are meddling, mine seems OK, perhaps it will revert to what passes for normal soon!!!
