I don't know Jane, it's early days yet, it could easily go back to Mild, Wet and Windy!! Apparently the first day of Winter is officially Dec 21st!!! I suppose this is late Autumn?!!

Jane

Jane Report 29 Nov 2010 17:49

Liz ,you are right. But it certainly doesn't seem like late Autumn does it lol
Our young friends have just boarded their flight back to Dubai.Something tells me they will be glad to get back there!!.Poor Rachel ,who is just 12 weeks pregnant says that all the clothes she brought with her 10 days ago don't fit anymore!!!.So her plan is to hit the shops this week

Evening All,

Bitterly cold here today too.........but where I met my friends there was hardly any snow at all. It was freezing in the tearoom and we were soon putting our coats back on. lol We had a good old long natter and catch up between our bacon sarnies and hot drinks. After, I had a potter around Loughborough shops then headed home via the motorway and called in a factory shop. I got a nice grey cap sleeve knitted cardigan with cable pattern from the waist to the bottom, in a sale too so how could I resist!!

OH rang and said he'd meet me at Sain*burys down the road for a cuppa before he went off to Burton for a meal with his ladies from work (to see how they are managing without him I bet!!! lol) Anyway he bought me a chicken in red wine meal so I don't have to get anything eat. Ahhh nice!

The red dress looks very nice Jane......a nice warm colour for the wedding in this cold weather too.

I can just picture those Starlings having a tug of war with the bacon rind Liz. We had more problems with the Pigeons last winter.......sitting under the bird feeders and waiting for the food to be dropped on the ground for them!! Feel sorry for the birds this weather.....where do the poor mites go at night? I never seen any sitting in the bare hedges and trees, so maybe they go inside the conifers.

Just remembered the electrician is coming tomorrow to fit the new bathroom fan so I better move my car closer to the house to make room for his car on the drive. He has to cut a hole in the gutter boards (soffit?) outside for the vent so I hope it isn't snowing or blowing as the wind whistles down that side!!

Jane Report 29 Nov 2010 19:25

I'm glad you had a nice time with your friends Ann.Bacon Sarnies!! Luverly.
I hate to say it but I think they said on the weather forecast it is going to be windy tomorrow.

Oh HECK, Jane lol. He is a lovely man but he can talk for england and the doors will be left wide open I bet.....he will be up in the freezing loft too. The bungalow will be like a barn!! OH has suggested he may go out...........just let him TRY!!!!!!

Jane

Jane Report 29 Nov 2010 19:42

Ann ,why don't you go out (to some warm shops) and leave OH at home lol.I'm sure you can think of (something important ) you have to go out for !!!

Frank

Frank Report 29 Nov 2010 19:54

Jane, Stop!!!!, Stop, stiring things up Anns Oh will have your guts for garters. (back to stocking tops) LOL.

We have what I call the "BLUE TREE" in the back garden, has the shape of an umbrella, very thick branches. You can hear the birds roosting it there in the evening. Bird seed and water hanging from branches, so hopefully they are allright.
I know, from the old paper. The day I was born , the snow laid thick right across the country.and that was on the first day of winter 19##something (CAN'T REMEMBER THE YEAR)!!!!

Jane

Jane Report 29 Nov 2010 21:17

Me stir things Frank !!!!!!!!! Never on your Nelly.
As for stocking tops.I found a pair of those hold up stockings in my drawer today.I have no idea when I bought them or why I bought them lol.Maybe I will have to give them a go.
I think we might know the year you were born Frank!!!I know you have told us before .I can't remember off the top of my head.
I am wondering if we will wake up to some snow in the morning.Looking at Chester I think it is going to be a very short walk. That leg is really playing up.But I think he probably didn't help it yesterday when the lady came to pick him up.He went bonkers haring up and down and jumping up at her and then screeching when his leg hurt.
Have the Jungle on now ,but I have lost track a bit.I am sorry Alison went .I would like JENNY to win

Annx Report 29 Nov 2010 21:51

Not a bad idea Jane. lol I must desperately need something!! lol Knowing my luck he'd offer to go and get it for me!! If I leave him with Keith I'll probably come back and find the new fan in the kitchen instead of the bathroom. He doesn't keep an eye on what's happening!!

Frank, he's like you, he knows what us ladies are like! I bet he's already got a PLAN B for his escape in place, probably to shut himself in here with the computer to write up some meeting minutes he's been putting off doing for just such an occasion as this. He doesn't realise that I shall be in here too making noise sorting and ripping up old papers. lol It's the only room besides the bedroom that Keith won't be walking through or working in.

I like Jenny Eclair......went to see her show a few years ago.....very funny lady.

Jane

Jane Report 29 Nov 2010 22:00

Must be away to my bed now .Gillian is out!! Good. The internet is so slow tonight ,I am giving up on it.
What time is Keith arriving tomorrow Ann? Good Luck!!!!!!!

21.59pm.

Had the leccy off for some time today after we went up the road to get some conduit things to go along the wall in the study for all the computer wires. When I got back at about 20 to 1 I remembered I had'nt let the big chickens out. Went and did that and had to defrost the water drinker. Came in to do lunch and filled the filter jug. The tap was'nt running well and I could hear water and thought OH was using the tap in the bathroom. I asked him if he had left the tap on in the bathroom and he went to check and came back to me and said no, why. I told him and then thought, the outside tap pipe burst last year and yes it had gone again. So OH had that job to do as well. What makes me really cross is that we actually lagged the bl**dy pipe last week with that foam stuff which I saw and bought in the DIY shop. Fat lot of good that was. It now has one of OH's jumpers wrapped round it too. And another thing I had only just walked past it and into the kitchen and washed my hands and then it happened.

Then OH had the electric off this afternoon while he did a new plug on the wall in the study so we have had no heat on today but it has'nt been too bad.

Morning All,

Yet another very frosty morning with grey skies.

Really need to go and get some chicken food but my car battery has given up the ghost! Don't know if OH will take me or not.

Jane

Jane Report 30 Nov 2010 09:32

Morning from a snowy Kettering. There is probably a couple of inches.Have a nice walk down the lane ,with Chester snuffling his nose down in the snow lol.

Mel I hope you get no more burst pipes. We use that grey foam stuff that clips around the outside tap.Touch wood it has been ok last winter and so far now.
Your poor old battery is always going flat.I thought you had a new one.

I need to go and get some bread so will do that soon.
A little Robin just flew into the patio door. But I think it was alright. It just stunned itself for a moment.

Morning All,

Cold and frosty here too.....but no more snow .....YET.

Dogs do love the snow don't they. I can just picture Chester snuffling along.

We put one of those grey foam things that clip around the tap on this year....we bought it a few years ago but couldn't find it before. Last year OH made a box to go over the tap out of polystyrene packing and gaffer tape. Any polystyrene packaging from your furniture Mel?? What a pain getting a flat battery. I hate fiddling with cars when it's freezing........could you take OH's.......or would it stress him too much!! lol

Keith has just phoned......thick snow falling where he is 7 miles away so he's coming next week now. Don't blame him in this cold. I'd just got dressed with a nice fleece jumper I'd found at the back of a wardrobe shelf .....ready for a day in the 'barn'. lol

I might go out for a walk .......no biting wind here yet and the sun is out so it looks nice.

Morning all
OH working from home today, was supposed to be going to Barcelona, but Edinburgh airport is closed, I think he is quite happy about it, so am I wouldn't want him to get stuck over there goodness knows when he would get home.
the trains here and in surrounding areas have been delayed or have been canceled.SIL couldn't get his car out of the drive and there was no trains so he didn't get to work yesterday , but managed today to get through Glasgow roads not good but passable with care.

Daughter no 1 & Sofia are sitting tight this week to, going to miss the little one , she certainly cheers me up when I'm feeling low.

Thanks for the smiley dog Frank, made me smile too

Jane ,
you looked lovely ,your dress was really bright and cheerfull for a nearly christmas wedding,

off to do some exercises and make a christmas shopping list need to walk into town and buy some odds in ends to fill up a few christmas bags, also to buy some stamps for cards. I buy several at a time so I don't have to stand all day for them 25 days to go to Christmas AHHHHH!!!!

11.21am.

Well I have'nt had a chance to get out for any pressies yet. Think the bedromm suite will be our pressies and the decoprating. Still thats ok because I shan't have to find anywhere to put things!!!

OH is getting the things back in the study today so that will clear the bedroom so we can get the new furniture in there and out of the hall.
Then perhaps I can get some things out of the lounge and start getting straight again.

Pond was half frozen this morning but the water rush from the filter has kept most of it clear of ice.

Ann there is'nt a tap outside just a pipe to the caravan that runs down the wall of the kitchen to underground. It was lagged with that pipe fcoam but it did'nt help. It now has an old jumper of OH's over it.

That little dog was good was'nt it. I copied it and sent it to my cousin in Canada and various other friends and rellies.

11.30am

Morning one and all,

Had snow in the night about 1" Wind seems to have droped. and the suns out.

We just had a good laugh. We have a big mirror behind the bathroom door, not used a great deal. This morning when I got out of the shower. The door was closed also the window. had the heater on and extractor fan. Everywhere was steamed up. I looked at the big mirror, and through the steam I could read "HI I'M HERE. LOVE LEWIS XXX" little sod won't let us forget him. Once the steam cleared so did the message. Ros said leave it till he comes up again !!!

Going to Hospital appointment Thurs. 11am for Ros's back. at a private hospital under the NHS. (WOODLANDS) at Rothwell. Do you know it Jane. ?? Hope he can sort her out with another operation, she can't keep going on like she is at present. living on pain killers. but still in pain. if that makes sense.

Our little black poodle loved the snow the deeper the better. She would come in with the snow stuck to her fur. Straight into the bath, to melt it, and then dry off and under the hair dryer. looked lovely all fluffed up, and smelling nice.

My niece in the Boarders, is snowed in, hope she's got plenty of supplies.

Fiona

Fiona Report 30 Nov 2010 12:20

Hi Frank
Hope Ros can get some help for her back, I know what it's like with a sore back, but if Ros is to have an operation, then my sore musles(sp) are nothing to complain about.

Frank where about is your niece in the borders, Daughter no 2 is a bit worried that if this snow continues and she can't get down to Galashiels tomorrow for uni, she has e-mail her lecturer about the bad weather and he will e-mail her with any infomation she will need,
But she has her exams on the 8th & 15th December hopefully the University can arrange to maybe gets some one and somewhere sorted out so she can take her exams here in Glasgow , There is a University in Edinburgh and that will be the last resort and that is an hour away on the motorway.

off to get some lunch then will get myself to the shops, it's really snowing heavily here.
