Just thinking as I chopped mint lol , there are people in life who I have an instinctive antipathy towards ( mutual I am certain lol) but nonetheless respect their ability / knowledge in specific areas , enough to over-ride my personal feelings . (if I thought they could help someone I would recommend them kind of thing.)

which led me to the thought, would I rather be respected or liked? ( both preferably of course lol)

Now, are we talking about respect through fear? Respect through achievement or respect as common decency toward a fellow human being?

I would like the latter. People don't have to like me, but if they are civil toward me I'll be civil back.

It's nice to be liked, but as long as my nearest and dearest can still love me, that's all that really matters.

Well surely if you like someone it goes without saying you respect them too...at least I do....so I want both :)

But will you still respect me in the morning?

But I really dont care if Im liked to be honest,I am me and if people like me great if they dont well thats fine:-))

That's good, Rox cos I don't really like you:))) Seriously I know that there are a couple of people who I work with who don't particulary like me but who have respect for me. I can live with that because I feel the same about them.

Uggers, I like and respect you I believe :)) like because you are obviously lovely :) and respect because you have opinions and beliefs which you are not afraid to state and can make a reasoned argument for :)

I suppose I would like to be both Respected and Liked if I am to be honest but.......It really wouldn't upset me if I were disliked. We can't always like everyone but I do think everyone deserves Respect to a certain degree.....

I'm shallow so I just wanna be liked :-)) I think that's why I'm so naive about people, I think they're all as desperate to be nice so that people like them as I am!
