It beggars belief Berona!!

Agreed aravans should be MOT'd. Chassis, tyres and brakes at least.
What about bicycles too.....brakes etc and shouldn't anyone using a bicycle, children included, have to pass a basic test before they use public roads.

Foggy - them's fightin' words!!!

I started out to say something about caravans, but somehow they got lost in favour of kids.

My 5y.o. grandson is in his first year of school. His mother helps out with reading, distributing work and books, etc. Spends an hour on 2 to 3 days a week.

Every time she walks into the room, the teacher has set the children to do drawing, listening to music, etc. while she sits at the computer. When she sees my daughter walk in, she quickly clears the screen; gets up and greets her warmly.

She has now found out that the teacher has a business of internet sales!

Hi Rose
The school dont have the time it seems to check if all the children are there all day
As far as my daughter was aware ,her son was safe in the school
Instead of that he was out in the streets
As he had registered surely he was the schools responsibility from then on
She had done her part by sending him
The register was her proof of attendance

Thats the thing Mo, you can take a child right into school but not be there to make sure they stay!

Son needs my computer for the scanner so will be off for a bit now :))

My daughter got threatened with court, for not sending her son to school
But she did.
He went in and registered in the morning, then left durring the day
How can teachers let him do this, then say she didnt send him
they didnt even tell her he had left the school
So as far as she was concerned,he was there

Of course parents shouldnt be imprisioned because their child wont attend school.....imo.

1 it causes the whole family untold distress,
2 places hugh guilt on the child.
3 doesnt get to the root of the problem.

should a child flatley refuse to go to school then there is usually an undelying problem.....often at no fault of the parent/s.some children hate school and all it stands for regardless of upbringing.

some parents respect to thier child to want them educated is lacking.some children lack respect for the parent, and no amount of jailing can resolve this.

when there is lack of authority from either side then whos to blame?

I think walking in anothers shoes is often a good idea, school refusal can be extremely hard to deal with, and deeply upsetting,

I think they need to toughen up on school abstances, very rare they send the parent to prison because the effect it will have on other children if there is any but let they pay a big whopping fine ....Rose I know your circumstances are differnet..

On the subject of teenagers and attendance at school , I was summonsed to a " punctuality and attendance meeting " yesterday . I arrived 10 mins early ( like you do to an appointment ) and the person I was due to see was 10 mins late.........lol..........my smug smirk and comment of " how ironic " didn't go down to well...........lol

oh heck lol I think I will have to put a stop to this already LOL

No Foggy I don't think cats should be culled... but I think it incumbent upon cat owners (I was one for many years) to redress the balance by keeping a 'bird friendly' garden (no gravel ! ROFL ;)...) bird food, nesting boxes...and possibly a bell on the cat ...if it will wear one , mine never would lol
