Sadly yes they do-Mine died this yar-age about 12-he got more and more silly and used to walk around and around in circles-he just wouldn't settle anywhere-he seemed to forget how to eat-and when he had he would ask again and again for more-and then not eat it. They go a bit like a human with dementia really. he also got very bad tempered which he hadn't before and would only use his litter tray-he wouldn't do any toilet outside-if he went out he seemed to forget why and come back in the other door-then go back to the other door to ask to go out again!

he got to the point he missed the tray all the time and spent most of his time trying to crawl behind the washing machine,in cupboards etc.

The vet told us it was a natural instinct to find somewher 'safe' to go and die-where he wouldn't be attacked. HOWEVER the other cause can also be an ear infection which can make them very disorientated and do the circling/hiding thing-try getting ears checked-good luck x

My cat was 22 when she' 'left the party'and definitely went senile. She used to sit and stare intently at the wall for hours on end as if she was in another universe!, it really spooked me Mind you I feel a bit like that at the mo...I came up here for something and cant remember what it was...*stares i.....
