Hi Mac, being in business and trying to get payment from people is a nightmare... from those I know who are in business, the same applies whoever the debtor. But (and I know this is off topic somewhat) is this not down to a general disinclination to 'pay up' for what you receive? eg high tax payers who employ accountants to keep every penny they can: politicians who claim for household sundries on their expenses whilst earning substantial salaries: bank officials who take bonuses for running a failing ship...etc etc...symptomatic of the 'ME' generation? rather than race.....or nationality as such?

Hi Igor , sorry had gone to bed by the time you posted or would have answered you :)

I think the main argument is that as all these people are already here, can't for the most part be sent back because

a) you'd have to find them first (which you can't do if they are living 'outside the system' as it were).

b) they are settled , ie have been here for 6 years, have employment and wish to pay taxes etc.....

I certainly don't think Britain should open its doors to an indefinite number of immigrants. I also think that those who do come must accept our laws and responsibilities, and respect our culture and integrate into it (without being forced to loose their own 'roots' ). Freedom of speech I will defend to the hilt, but not to be used by anyone to incite racial tension...eg fundamental Islamists who preach hatred....they should be deported immediately (though there is a case for saying it is better to have them here where they can be monitored rather than elsewhere where they would have more influence?).

hi rose
Look, how can a country , who d'snt know its arse from it's elbow , how many illegals we have in this country , posibly see through a scheme like this well meaning as it may be , we are and always will be a dumping ground for the worlds undeirables,
It's all very well Jaqui Smith (and we all know about her, don't we) saying we will monitor imigration at our borders but a quick google wiil reveal all the wonderful she has let in from anti western mullahs , to violence inciting Jamaican rap singers.
Sorry Rose and i love you and your opinions but i must for once diagree

Good Evening all

If you want to take part in another good debate, look in general topics about:

"SHOULD WE PAY TO GO TO CHURCH".

Interesting views!

I like this debate here though.
No one telling us it is not politically correct to have an honest debate!

Best wishes

Jumping back to Mac's post about the email, if I had recieve the same email I would of sent it right back to the bigot that passed it on...

I have a couple of points that concern me...one is I have said in the past that I would of glady kick in any ones head that shouted abuse at my son or servicemen whatever their race was who shouted abuse our forces whist they were on parade back from serving aborad ..so what does that make me?

Secondly ...we have some friends whom openly display im my opinion racist views.....and own a home in Spain and planned to move over there..does that not make immigrants after they have left the Uk and moved to Spain?

Sue, I think as with any laws/systems, there will always be loopholes which are exploited... whichever country it applies to, it is just a case of closing those loopholes whilst keeping a 'fair and compassionate' overview, if I can put it that way

Hayley

Mr A is working here legally and marries Miss B in country Z. Then he can legally apply bring the new Mrs A to the UK as a resident. No problem.

The family of Miss B then visit and stay illegally! Even though they are not registered for benefits anywhere initially they do find their way into the system. I wish I could explain more but I must not!

I remember (which some of you may be too young to ) the discussions vis a vis the 'Ugandan' refugees, Vietnamese boat people ...to name but two groups...who when they arrived, integrated and worked...and also, it has always been the case in the past that immigrants ( going way back now) have taken the 'worst' jobs and worked their way up whenever possible, and worked damn hard! to stay in the country whose Democracy they admired and aspired to.... IMO

Good Evening to you all

Can I offer my views?

People have been migrating from countries since the beginning of time.

Some of the media deliberately stirs up trouble and blames groups of people for the current problems in the country.

Bigotry of one form or another has always existed.

What I will say though is that when anyone emigratescountry, they be prepared to integrate and abide by the laws of the country. Otherwise, why move?

All migrants should have to go through the legal process for emigration.

However, some countries have the resources and the need to take more migrants. Others do not. So some countries need to set a cap on the numbers for a while.

As for planning, a government needs to make long term policies
for housing, education and health services. This way there would not be the problems of shortages and people being denied medicines, etc.

The issue of shortages is manipulated by certain unpleasant groups, who stir up trouble.

Can I add that in the 1970's and 1980's, I mixed with children of all religions, backgrounds and from different countries.

It did not bother me.

Best wishes to you all.

When I was in Brazil, as I chatted to waiters throughout my stay Brazilian & Jamacians I aksed if they had everbeen to the UK all told me that the UK has the strictest Immigration and was the hardest country to enter, I was shocked as well...however over the last few years I know it has tightened up...and if MrA marries Miss B then A & B can not come and outstay there welcome, if they do they are illegel imigrants they can not claim benefits as they are illegel they have no NINO....

For anyone who may have seen the you tube video that I think Mac is referring to which, in my opinion, is a load of claptrap here is a link to a website which contains an article you should read.
