Mo, do you go on you tube to watch some of the old comics, I was watching Tony Hancock the other night with sid James ...oh the memories came flooding back, watching it as a kid on our black and white telly with the two pronged ariel on top!

I remember on a couple of occassions having to stand holding that arial when there was a programme the grown ups wanted to watch and we had bad reception! I can hear them now "Keep it still Pam!" Oh I'm really wallowing in nostalga now..☺

Yes Pam I remember Arthur Askey, and now would not find him funny, I was all of four or five when I liked him on the Radio, So say no more, he was more or less a kids comedian.

He was also in the Comic - Radio Fun.

Hi TG, that cheeky chappy Max Miller was one of my dad's favourites...he was very naughty, but so fast he'd said it before they had time to think about it to much! To quote my dad...! "I can't stand that******* Askey give me Max Miller any day!!"

I remember as a kid we had a Tony Hancocl LP (LP that's dating me!!) It was called "Pieces of Hancock", it had the usual ones The Blood donor, "The Test Pilot" to name just a couple. I was only about ten, but would sit there laughing my head off!!... Strange kid, old before my time.

Chick Murray eh Sharron, yes I have to agree. Very funny and as you say such a dry wit.

Hilda Baker used to have me in fits as Nellie Pledge. " I lay there prostiute on the floor!"

Ed, hi ya mate! I've just one thing to say to you...FORK HANDLES. Well that was two actually wasn't it. Totally agree with you on Lee Evans, a comic genius! I always have to have a wee before watching him on sky!! Yes I know too much info but it's only you!

All those old Comics that are mentioned on here. Chic Murray, Eric and Ernie, Benny Hill. Tommy Cooper, Ronnie Barker etc Loved them all.

My favourite, just about remember him, but have a vinyl of him was
the great Max Miller. As he used to say ' There will never be another'

One joke that had my late mol in stitches was

Why is a lady getting out of a car like a Max Miller joke.
Sometimes you see it sometimes you dont.

She was quite fat, and was trying to get out of my Mini car at the time when I said it to her, needless to say she fell back into the car and could not get out for laughing.

Hi all,

Loved Ronnie Barker - I thought his delivery was fantastic - Dave Allan, Tommy Cooper and Benny Hill as well.

I always found Morecombe and Wise about as funny as toothache though.

My favourites at the moment have to be Catherine Tate, Michael McIntyre and Lee Evans - I saw him about 6 years ago and I laughed so much I come away in pain.

A lot of the present day comics I don't find very funny. I do like Victoria Wood, her timing is immaculate. I used to like Dave Alan. yes I liked Morecombe and Wise as well. I like some situation comedy. Liked some episodes of Only fools, and the same with the vicar of Dibley. I think sometimes it depends on your own mood at the time.

I don't find 'Dinner Ladies' that funny, but Julie Walters character as the scruffy old mum makes me laugh...she walks about with that dirty old blanket around her- and lets the odd one go!! Julie Walters is also great as Mrs Overall, and the waitress 'Two Soups'...oh that grin!!! l LOL

She is so popular in our house that we quote Catherine Tate in normal conversation. People who don't watch her look very confused at times:))
