Hi Gail,

I'm not yet experiencing any hot flushes, although I have senior moments all the time, in terms of forgetting stuff!

My lovely dad is off to the GP in the morning, with my sister, we're anticipating an Alzheimers diagnosis for him but we may be wrong, or premature.

I'm so confused as to what I want the doc to say.

Lots of love to you all

Maria xxxx

Oh Teresa, I do feel for you. xxx

Sue Maid is right, I can't have HRT, hormones and me don't go together yet tis always wisest to have a check. Have friends who take HRT, they feel like new.

Oh Helen :))

I get them from the elbows up. It starts with a nervous feeling at elbow height and then it creeps upwards.

My face breaks out in a sweat on the top of my cheek bones, just under my eyes, then my whole head feels hot but the rest of me can feel cold.Do any of you get that?

I only went through night sweats for a few months, then they stopped thank goodness. I'd be hanging out the window in the middle of winter trying to cool off at 3.00am, much to my OH's disgust LOL

I'm all three shimms, snappy, emotional and tearful. I'm bursting into tears at situations I would have laughed off before.

And I though PMT was bad LOL

HRT gets a bad rap in the press but if it's carefully monitored by your doctor and he checks your blood pressure regularly it can be a godsend. Natural remedies can help but they're a bit hit and miss - you need to try a few until you find the right one for you.

Can I just say that if you're experiencing early signs of menopause it's a good idea to have a check up with your doctor to rule out any problems. Not all symptoms are menopausal.

I did read somewhere that normal forgetfulness is not a sign of Alzeimers but more a sign of brain overload as we get older. The older you get the more is stored in your memory so the harder it is to retrieve.

I started the menopause when I was about 48 and it was horrible, didn't have bad hot flushes but felt really unwell with weird feelings, as if ants were crawling over me (makes me shudder even now). Also felt continually queasy. I took HRT for 9 years and was fine, had no problems. came of it when I had a benign cyst in my breast as doctor said it was best to do so. 69 this year and still have occasional flushes at night but not bad ones, otherwise no problems except for weight gain from the HRT.

I used to wake in the middle of the night, flushing wasn't the word, 'hot sweats' were horrid ... Evening Primrose so helped, wish I could remember the name of the other thing I took, can't remember if it was Nettle something.

Didn't snap, got very emotional, tearful ...

I know what you mean Sue. I'm snapping at my colleagues at times, so I'm not exactly popular at work these days, as they are all young girls. I never used to be like that, used to laugh and joke my way out of everything.

I think I might have to take that trip to the doctors, the more I talk about it the more I realise whats going on LOL

I agree TW - the forgetfulness is so frustrating and makes me feel really elderly lol. I do get down at times but what I really find annoying is I can be very sharp with people at times and I was never like that. Sometimes it's a good thing 'cos I don't let people get away with treating me like a door mat but often with family I feel bad when I snap at them for little reason. Thankfully not like that all the time.

Have you asked your doctor about HRT Helen to get you over the worst?

Mel are you saying you're going through menopause at your age? Perhaps you should get a check up from the doctor to see how your hormone levels are. It's not unknown of course to go through early menopause.

Blimey! So I've been post-menopausal for two years!

Its the forgetfulness and feeling miserable at times, not able to cope with the pressures I used to breeze through that bother me though, I am very sensitive at times and emotional....the flushes I could live with TBH, they only lasted a few seconds at a time. Great when its cold LOL
