Wave at my friendly CCTV operator everyday, were I live has 24/7 security and monitored CCTV, on the one hand its a bit annoying, on the other I feel very safe, also my cars nicely tucked up and monitored too.

Due to my age I'm 'in the system' completely no way really to escape it not without taking some extreme measures. Have to renew my passport this year, irony is the US government know more about me than the UK one, as the US have my prints on record.

To be honest I wish in the UK we'd make out minds up get off the fence and step it up just a bit, finger print none UK nationals (well have to be none EU) entering the country, start rolling out ID cards, if you drive and have a passport your already nearly there anyway.

Edit: You can tell I'm from the generation that find monitoring the norm, and as I have nothing to hide I'm not worried.

Yes, we're watched an monitored far too much.
I don't have a 'loyalty' card for any store - what I buy is my affair and no-one elses. If I want to have a supper of cat food and cheap plonk, it's got nothing to do with Sainsbury's - or whoever they send the information to - how do you think they know what the general public is spending their money on?

As for our details on the electoral role being sold and being put on the internet - sometimes I just don't want to be on it. 'You have the right to vote and we have the right to make money out of it!'

I live alone and claim single person discount. My youngest was at Uni and then wasn't settled in a place so I left her name on my form so she could vote in a general election. Council accused me of lying - sent rather a threatening letter - I had to point out that daughter had a right to vote - but didn't want to keep changing details, and that being on my electoral form didn't mean she lived with me. Had they (the council) never heard of Postal voting?
The above just shows how a little information in the wrong hands can be dangerous - unless you like threatening letters from some numbskull.

Every time I put money in the bank it triggers a letter that tries to tempt me into getting a credit card . We are certainly monitored in our lives .

I refuse to get sucked into the mincer myself .

I hate the argument (no offence Igor) if your law abiding...what have you to fear?

I'm law abiding and I still fear my privacy, my freedom etc is being eroded. I don't feel any safer because of CCTV.....

igor Report 9 Feb 2009 23:15

cctv, spy satalites, and you,d be amazed what they can pick , i.d cards , huge data bases of personal information
If your law abiding what is there to fear, but all this super technology still can find all the thosands of illegals that the government don' know about

it's getting like 1984 everyday. I think we're just letting our freedom be eroded without a fight or even an argument.

We microchip our pets.....it will be our children next.....for their safety of course.

ChAoTicintheNewYear Report 9 Feb 2009 22:13

Not been in Matalan in ages Hayley but it doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Tesco knowing what I eat doesn't bother me so long as they don't try to dictate to me what I should eat lol. However, I know there is probably information about me out there that I wouldn't be too happy about.

Silly Sausage Report 9 Feb 2009 22:08

Matalan do it as well Julie....

ChAoTicintheNewYear

ChAoTicintheNewYear Report 9 Feb 2009 22:06

Yes, we're watched and monitored and not just by cctv. I have a Tesco clubcard and when I get mail from them containing money off vouchers to spend the vouchers are related to something I've recently bought. I'm pretty sure it isn't just Tescos who are monitoring us either.

As I said I always have a bag...when in Vegas we used to go to breakfast buffetts after a couple of days we sussed out about taking fruit and cookies with us as we would be stuffed....some days I nearly got a bleddy hernia carry it out after she had finished filling it...lol

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 9 Feb 2009 21:17

I had a clutch bag once ( when I was 16 ) but soon realised that keeping my stuff in a friends hand bag on nights out was far easier than having to remember where my bag was ...........lol

Silly Sausage Report 9 Feb 2009 21:15
