Hi Shimms, haven't had the pleasure of visiting those forests. Dad used to take us to Blackmore woods. Couple of years ago went for a circular walk near Gt Dumnow, took in part of Hatfield forest
I love the countryside. Worked many years ago briefly in Hylands park & on the bridleways...great memories!!!

I was born in London Steve, yet Essex has played a big part in my life.

Spent many years too in Hertfordshire ... adored it. From my last house I could in minutes reach the bridle path, be with nature, the squirrels, open fields and more.

We had an agricultural college plus a farm across the road and yet by car in just over 5 minutes were in the City Centre.

Where I am we have 'gorges' run by nature trusts ... can walk there in just over 5 minutes too, so really I am very lucky.

Hi Shimms, gorges in outskirts of London sounds great. Glad you have easy access to the countryside :o))
Here in Chelmsford were cut through by two rivers that join up in the town centre. So we have swathes of countryside & parkland that cuts into & almost through the town.

Oh my word Ray!

When I was 17 I went away to acommpany elderly disabled people on a weeks holiday with some other schoolfriends; helped them and more.

Such fun ... the nursing holiday home was on a hill and they kept begging us to push them, letting them 'go' down this hill when we'd have to run like mad to 'catch' the wheelchairs, keep them safe!

We'd be partying in Clacton in the evening .. :))

Must away soon, yet so enjoying this.

We have woods and more near us ... I don't drive yet we can easily reach them by car.

I do miss the countryside though, where I live not many people put on green wellies!

Love to dress up yet do luv the peace and quiet of nature.

I did live near Hatfield Ray, lived in St Albans.

In Clacton it was a steep hill, so many years ago I can't remember it's name now, yet such happy memories.

Am smiling ... seems ages since I came home from the pub yet can remember Friday to Sundays with friends ... such fun.

Ray
