Hi Caz, I had one about a year ago on my head (skin cancer on my face) but mine was only twenty minutes. I had my face in a cage and I felt like Hannibal Lector, it was horrible but it does end and I went back out and had a ciggie and a whisky. I set myself problems to think about and questions to think about to try to blot out the noise and reality. While you are laying there, think about the important things in your life, your marriage, the birth of your children or if that doesn't apply think of your career.

We will all be thinking about you and supporting you tomorrow, remember that while you are having it done.

I was absoloutly terrified of them & after the last one asked if I could have a proper "look" at the scanner & there's not really a lot to it on the "scary" front!
Felt rather daft really-just close your eyes, listen to the music & I'll be with you all the way :)

Thank you everyone, it seems I am not alone in being scared, with all the medication I have to take I have put on an awful lot of weight, last time my arms touched the sides. I have trouble lying flat as well, last time it was only twenty minutes and I couldn't move to get up. When I had the full head and spine it took an hour and a half, (I always ask) and I had to wear the face cage.
My worries won't be over when it's done, I have cancer in my hips and spine bones and they found some swelling in soft tissue near spine at last MRI, they think cancer has spread. I'm keeping everything crossed that it is not what they think.
Thank you again I will take you all with me this afternoon.

Morning Joyce, I am up and down this morninig, can't keep still. I think I will take Liz's idea of treating myself if I manage it, I think I will buy a lot of 1911 credits as I have found quite a few of my rellies without paying so it will be nice to look at the transcriptions or even the original page.

Well I'm back home, it took an hour and ten minutes and I was on the verge of pressing panic button when she said five minutes and we're done. I thought I could manage another five minutes, I needed help to get sat upright again as my bad back had set up and was so painful when I tried to move.
I don't understand what is happening because my oncologist said she wanted one doing with die so it will show up what the soft swelling is. When I got there I was told I'd go in and have the first part done, then they would bring me out and put some die in my vein for me to back in for the second part.
I came out and she said I can go, when I asked what happened to the die I was told it wasn't needed. ?????
I'll find out next week when I go for result.
It was awful, an old scanner, ear plugs, went in head first and the bed was static so I had to climb two steps to get onto it, never again.
Thanks for your support, I tried to remember all the messages and time passed quite well.

Hi Ladies, yes I survived it, just, I felt sick and shaky when I got home and my back is really painful now.
I have had the dye (just noticed I spelt it wrong before, shows how worried I was) twice before, and as you say yuk.
Been speaking to Dutch and she said maybe the swelling has gone now so they didn't need the dye, a possibility.
When we came out of the hospital it was snowing quite thickly so I'm glad I'm home and in the warm now.

Well done Caz love.
I was not worried the first time I had it done and they were looking for a cancer then AND saw it... no problem at all, BUT while I was in hospital this time I had to have one and I was so ill with fear.
They put me through the other scanner instead.
Clever, brave girl you are Caz so proud of you.
