I don't usually do this for myself but could I please ask for some support tomorrow. I am having my MRI scan and being claustrophobic I am terrified, It's a whole spine and hips so I will be in for a long time and stomach is wobbling already. |

Good luck Caz, I agree - hate the noise of it, here they have music piped in, I've found if I keep my eyes closed and try to focus on the music, I am much better, |

Hi Dutch , Betty, I had ear phones on last time and it seemed to help. I have always screwed my eyes tight and thought of my grandchildren, have you tried keeping your eyes shut for an hour and a half lol. |

Caz, just tell them how nervous you are and they will give something to help you relax! and ask for some earplugs, as you know how noisy they can get!! |

Thanks Dawnie, I remember how scared you were, not nice is it, I have always told them how scared I was and been on the verge of pressing the panic button a few times but never did it. |

I have had a few of these with more to come. I was teriffied, almost witless before the first one. They asked me to take in some music and I took Mozart - what a mistake, it sounded lovely until the noise started and I could hardly hear. Since then I have taken my favourite Meatloaf 'Bat out of Hell' and when they ask you about the sound before going in I now have it louder than I would normally. This way, the noise is not so horrible. Make sure you are comfortable before going in - I have a problem lying flat because base of spine hurts. They will put wedges and cushions where needed for comfort - take your time, do not feel hurried. The headphones for the music, they will also speak to you through, but I once had someone with quite a low voice and could not hear so now I ask that whoever speaks to me be clear and loud enough. When lying down, if you look back you can see the opening, which helped me first time, and it seemed as though I was in for hours and hours. Now, I shut my eyes and sing along to the tape - the times goes quicker too! One thing that kept me still and in place was the thought that I would have to do it all again if I panicked. Be prepared for the noise, I don't really know how to describe it, almost like a loud gattling gun going off. It will start and stop a few times, so don't think it is all over when it stops first time. I can do it now with no problems and maybe you will be better than I was first time. When they speak it is just reasurrance so if you don't hear, please don't worry that you have missed anything important. Good Luck xx |

Lots of luck Caz. will be thinking about you, in my sleep probably, but you know you can do it, try and spend a million or so on lovely things in your mind, anything to distract yourself, and no cheating and just saying I'll send so much to Liz and so much to Vicky etc etc altho I know we could help you spend it, you have to concentrate more on the detail of what you would buy. |
