Budge up you lot, I'm a miserable grumpy whatsit as well ! I have always hated New Year and try and be in bed with a good book before midnight.
I must admit I've had a couple of glasses of wine and because of my meds I'm wasted and I'm soon off to bed - that's if I can sleep through the ****ing fireworks!!! LOL
Sending you all a big (((HUG))) and hoping for good health for us all in 2009.
Love Viv

Me too I am afraid. Cannot stand all the who-ha that the new year comes with it. OH has had us going out getting nibbles from M&S for a little platter to welcome in the new year! I would rather be in bed fast asleep. But as I am being forced to be awake will do my duty and be a pain in the arse and get some saucepans and clang them together to annoy the neighbours pmsl!

I find it very very depresssing, I always think of the people that I would like to be here that are not and then the new year means another year older *glum, glum glum*. lol

Happy New Year to you anyway Jean ((((((hugs))))))

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 31 Dec 2008 22:26

This Mrs Grumpy has just looked in on my way to Bed. Bl... y back has seized up on me again for the second time in 3 weeks. took 10 days the first time to get it back supple again and only took a walk around the supermarket yesterday for it to spasm again and seize up from the waist down to the me bum. Is agony to try and stand as is so stiff and gets locked up sitting.
Good start to the New Year lol

Not silly, MM. A sentiment shared by many I should think. I feel a bit of nervousness going into a new year. That feeling of wondering what the new year will bring. It's silly because it really is just going from one day to the next but it always feels like a new beginning.

Margaret Report 31 Dec 2008 21:29

I too hate New Years Eve. For some reason that I cannot explain it makes me really depressed and likely to burst into tears at any moment. I don't know whether it is regret at all the things I could have done in my younger days but now can't or whether it is the realisation that my life is passing by remarkabaly quickly and yet I am not 'enjoying' it in the way I know I should. I do shake myself and count my blessings but I can never shake off the feeling of sadness and depression. Silly thing is, I'm fine on 1st January. Silly I know.

Thanks for reminding me about the fireworks, I have just checked the cat is in.

I'll probably be in bed watching tv, with hubby snoring away alongside.

Do I do it tonight or 8:30 tomorrow morning?.................

Bit late tonight, better leave it until the morning LOL

how do you tact fully convey your consideration that your neighbours have a right to listen to THEIR music as loud as they wish, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE could they keep it all THEIR side of the wall?

I have similar neighbours to Maggie, I reckon........

AnnCardiff Report 31 Dec 2008 20:14

I can't stand it either - sitting here on my own, feeling pretty glum I must say - if it wasn't so cold I'd go out for a walk - I usually walk down to the local church and pop in through the gate to stand by my lovely OH's stone and tell him how much I miss him and how rotten life is without him. Then weep all the way back home - a misery guts I know, but I can't wait for the New Year to come and for Spring to start breaking through again

maggiewinchester Report 31 Dec 2008 20:11

OMG.
thought a car with a 'boom bass' thingy was parked outside. then it carried on, so I went downstairs to see if it was on TV.
Unfortunately it isn't - it's next door!!!! I can even hear the wailing that's accompanying the incessant thumping!!!

No early night for me, then.

*I wonder how loud my TV goes*?

Fireworks started over an hour ago here.

I love the one where Mrs Doyle falls out of the window - I could watch just that scene for hours and still laugh!!!
