Our Church collects all the year round, not just Christmas - Blankets, Sleeping Bags, Toiletries,Towels, Biscuits,Tinned Food. Clothes, Shoes etc.

We can also buy vouchers to give to any unfortunates for a meal.

At Christmas new childrens toys, and gifts suitable for teenagers, for those families that are finding it hard. Also Shoe Boxes for Romania.

They are also associated with a Charity, whereby unwanted items, furniture, cookers, fridges etc, can be collected, and done up and given to people who have been given accomodation, but have no furniture and such, and cant afford it.

Keeping this on the front page

If we get a bargain unexpectedly maybe we could get another and donate it ? or get a little extra with our own saving on things bought to give to a centre

Mo that sheme is great, many of my residents have no household items when they are housed, i end up going to friends and relations , i also tell people not to dump unwanted household items bring them to me i will find somewhere to store them until my residents need them. I bought a nearly new pine chest of drawers from our local tip for £4 for one of my residents . now someone had thrown that out.
I sometimes wonder what is wrong with people .i would never throw anything away that may be of use to someone else, my resident was thrilled with that chest of drawers.

This is in Southampton, and the Charity is called Scratch. They have a Warehouse and another place where men who have worked in the trades do up the White Goods. Mostly retired people.

Not only do they collect furniture and bedding and any household goods that are not wanted, they collect toys for the children.

All the people where I live, I have given the number to, so when they buy new they know they can donate the old things and know they are wanted.

One year one rotter set light to the Warehouse and Van, just before Christmas, and through the kind hearted people they got another lot of toys for the children. How despicable can this be, when people have nothing?

There is also a connection to the Brook Advisary Service, where the Mums with nothing can get baby clothes and furniture, as well as advice.

There are lots of good people about, as well as the rotters!
