Don't forget as I said on another thread - books are so expensive - you will get new/or pristine condition books at Abe Books for a huge reduction and better still they can be posted direct to your baby!

Richie nearly got caught out by the licensing people last year and it was my mistake. I thought Uni students were covered by their parents license until he got a visit...he got a few weeks grace and got it sorted. He was in alls then so I have another question to ask now..............he is living in a house with many students, do they have to get individual licences or just one for the house??

Still waiting on those food parcels ladies.....lol

love T.x

Any of your young students had fire drill yet?
When my daughter was in halls at uni. there was often a late night alarm, when clubbing people got back and decided to make toast, or else boiled a kettle in their room and activated the sensitive detectors.
She was so often outside shivering that she took to sleeping with a warm track suit on the end of the bed which could be grabbed on the way out.
Better safe although I expect the firemen thought " Not again "

Think it is the same as for normal households - g.dau shared with 4 others in a house and one licence covered all.

If the student has a TV in their own locked room then a separate licence is necessary.
A friend's son had this question, but because he could lock his room within the shared household it was deemed to be a 'seperate' property and so they all had to have their own licence.

Have now told son he does need one even if he doesn't use it .It won't matter what excuse he has for not having a license he could still be fined!!
It is all money money money at the mo.He is cancelling his car insurance as he can't have the car at Uni.He has to pay £50 to cancel!!!!!!!!

Theresa.....My son who shared a house with four others had to all have individual TV licence's, they had no locks on their room either! in fact, they were told that it is now deemed a Health and Safety issue for students to have locks on rooms.

One word of advice re. TV licensing - they were the bane of my life for three years!

Say you are in a flat in halls with four bedrooms and a kitchen/communal area - TV licensing count these as five separate addresses and will send you letters to this effect regarding the communal area being on their "unlicensed" database.

Because they assume that if you don't have a license you must be watching TV illegally, the easiest thing to do is ring them up and tell them there is no TV in the communal area (don't bother writing - I did and never got a reply). If you ignore the reminders, they will still keep arriving in the post.

It is a ridiculous system really, but there seems to be no way round it.
