I cringe when I hear "the missus" and swearing, I think there are enough words in the dictionary without swearing.

Over here, the term "partner" is used by homosexual people who are living together or who have made a life-time commitment to each other.
The one expression that really got up my nose this summer while I was in England was, " Having said that". I wanted to say "Yes, I heard you the 1st time".

I think journalists should use good English, it is,after all, a tool of the trade they are paid to carry on.

When Anita Roddick sadly died there was an article stating that she had contracted an illness at the time of the birth of her youngest daughter. She had two daughters so there was no youngest.

In the T.V listings it mentions the paintings of da Vinci. His name was Leonardo!

They are paid to write it properly!

Agree with you Christine

Other ones to add to that..."of" instead of "off"
"been" instead of "being"
"there" when they mean "their"
"would of" should be "would have"
I could go on.................

I use the term partner simply because I would feel silly at my age 51 refering to him as boyfriend and he is not my husband. Has anyone a better term I can use please.
And I cannot stand swearing by women especially four letter words. It sounds really terrible and seems to have become the norm to some. There is no need for it, as soon as a woman starts to foul mouth and swear, she goes right down to the gutter.

Basically, absolutely, at the end of the day, eyeballing instead of seeing, having dialogue instead of speaking.....are just a few.
