"Partner" is my pet hate.........why dont they use wife/husband fiancee?

partner to me implies something that is not permanent......like dancing partners......partner in a card school......

I hate fiance wouldn't call him my husband even if he was.

What about hand baked? How do they do that then?

I`ll tell you a story about a pan. When we were first married OH was out of work . I left instructions for spag .bolognaise. When I came the vegs were frying in frying pan and mince cooking in a pot. He read the instructions and it said fry vegs , meaning brown them !!!

I think Partner is used for older people as boy and girlfriend sounds daft when you are older and no longer a boy or girl. My o.h. is not my fiance or my husband.


I hate it when people swear in a sentence for no reason, ie. not angry or whatever, use it as a matter of course. It's awful.

I use 'partner' because I'm not married to him, so I can't call him 'husband'. Though on here he's my OH lol Formally though, I have to use that term.

I hate the term 'girlies' One woman in our office, when emailing us all will start with, Hi Girlies!

I hate the word select instead of chose. I called my partner partner even though i hate the word but confessing all i can't always get my mouth around the word fiance and he's neither my husband nor husband to be and it sounds silly for me(over 25) to call him my boyfriend!

Basically, absolutely, at the end of the day, eyeballing instead of seeing,having dialogue instead of speaking.....are just a few.

mate, pal, buddy, any of these when the person is not a friend is most annoying.

Hate being called Mother. My Dad used to call his mum mother..........Also hate to be called Gran.........reminds me of same lady........lol.....

I use the term partner simply because I would feel silly at my age 51 refering to him as boyfriend and he is not my husband. Has anyone a better term I can use please.
And I cannot stand swearing by women especially four letter words. It sounds really terrible and seems to have become the norm to some. There is no need for it, as soon as a woman starts to foul mouth and swear,she goes right down to the gutter.
