My grand-daughter started play school and I collected her one day last week. The teacher remarked on what good manners she has. Always says please and thank you. I was so proud........she's only 3.....bless!! |

It's all about making the world a nicer place for everyone really. I think manners is about being considerate and it really doesn't matter whether the person you are being pleasant to is male/female/young or old. |

Maybe it sounds petty but it really grates with me when I hear someone just shout 'scuse me' without saying please. It sounds like an order rather than a request and these individuals rarely say thank you when you move for them. Like others on here have said good manners is showing consideration for others. Teaching children to be aware of the needs of others is badly needed these days and teaching good manners is a great introduction to this. |

Annx sometimes the s'cuse me is more of an order than a request but it's better than an elbow at times. |

Shimms you made me chuckle - my OH says mind the step now - ever since he walked ahead of me across a road and I fell forward grabbing the only thing in reach to stop me falling - the sides of his trousers, which nearly came down! He has good manners though, walks on outside, opens doors for people. |

Was just thinking, one of the first things I ever remember being taught was to treat others as you wish to be treated. |
