I've had some 'friend' requests from people (some rather freeky looking) that i don't know...Obviously i ignore them as i think the whole point is to be in contact with people you do know...I havn't met all my 'friends', i have some people from on here on there - but i DO consider them friends!
Would any of you accept a total stranger as a friend on Facebook, and if so, WHY???

I've only been on there a short while and haven't got many "friends" on there.

Me & oh were talking about it tonight - he's got loads of people on his friends list but many are just aquaintances from work etc. We have a laugh about it when some of these people update their status to tell you they're putting on a cardigan or have just had a biscuit. Good grief.

I had a couple of requests from people I didn't know & it turned out they were from here but I didn't know there proper name!

I found one other person on facebook with the same name as me & I thought it would be fun to have her as my friend - she obviously didn't think so as she never accepted my request :-(

I only add people that I know in real life or have spoken to a fair bit on the net. I have had a fair few requests to add people that I dont know but always ignore them.

Sometimes i only log in to read them, always make me smile...!
One of my friends say ''Is wondering where to buy a red dress?''
My suggestion was that a shop would be a good place to start!! PMSL

I'm on FB but i only have a few from here on it and they are people i have spoken to many times and helped me through a bad patch.

i would NOT except a request if they hadnt pmed me 1st.

Things like the status update are just a bit of fun though. Otherwise you'd need to update them every few minutes!

I know only one of my Facebook friends in real life The rest are internet acquaintances.

Hello Lou:) I know all my FB friends well, almost all of them personally and just a few (from here as it happens) that I haven't met face to face but feel I are mates.

I've had a few requests which turn out to be people from here or people I've met once through someone else in the real world and I reject them. FB is quite personal for me and I have to feel I trust people and know them to have them - I don't just see it as an extension of GR :)

I'd accept people from on here without a second thought, just because it's a site i use...It's people from like America or bulgaria who have randomly selected me from 'somewhere' to add me as a friend - it's too weird for me (and some look like propper pervs anyway, lol)
And.. the status updates bother me when people update them every few hours - mine last usually between one and two days!

Ps. Hello Ugs - yep, it's quite personal for me as it's an 'extension' of my real life - photos and messages to REAL friends - it's an elite group ;-))

I ain't worried about pervs too much, more about numbskulls from here lol

I don't add people I don't know. I will add people I know from websites like GR etc as long as I've spoken to them, and know their board name.

Sorry, I'm a bit of an update freak...I put all sorts on mine, frequently, but I've had a few friends say that they like reading them for a laugh :-))

Mandy go on then, what are you doing now? (apart from chatting on GR)

Make it a good one and you might win over the status update sceptics, lol

I wouldn't want a perv or a numbskull - i actually removed someone who i thought was Ok but turned out to be quite weird!! Little weird comments and stuff, was quite an intrusion into my little world actually!

My current status is referring to my Dad being a stubborn old so-and-so and not admitting he's poorly!

I have a few in my facebook but quite a few are people I know through the clubs locally and people I have trained with.

Others include family members, people from GR and other websites, and people I have met.
