Winter Drawers Ever Near

Winter Drawers Ever Near Report 23 Aug 2008 22:10

Previous cats we have had always brought in field mice but never killed them. Mostly they just played with them and I managed to rescue the poor little blighters before they died of fright.

In my house these days it is the cat who gets brought in and dumped on the kitchen floor by the dog!

He's only 6 months old and our choc labrador pup (same age) keeps picking him up by his collar and bringing him inside!

The cat never retaliates even when he is stamped on and almost licked to death by that great lump.

The only time he acts like a cat is when he gets into the room with the budgie which lives in a large Dutch cage on a stand.

Try getting him off the top of the cage when he has his claws through the bars and you are picking him and the cage up at the same time.

The budgie bless him just sits on his perch and pretends to be stuffed instead of flapping around and dropping dead.

Even the tortoise doesn't escape. She has a lovely clean shell, the pup licks her all over but doesn't bite her. He does nick her cucumber though!

My elderly peeps I look after always ask for an update as to what they have been up to which is rather nice.

LOL................what a great dog and cat you have:)))

We have had 2 cats, one was almost blind and never left the house, the other one didn't hunt................but came in with someone's burger he'd nicked from next doors barbecue one afternoon.

I ever so quietly closed the back door and never did own up to that one! LOL

They aren't stupid...... first chance they ditch the bell and you don't bother replacing it as the collar is still intact!

Mine have brought in all sorts. The worst thing is, I don't notice initially!! I get up in the morning, walk downstairs, make a cup of tea and it's on the way back up I notice the dead rabbit on the kitchen floor and the dead mouse on the stairs!!
Betty brings in moths (still alive) which she releases in the house to chase. Mr Miu brings in mice, which he eats (apart from the liver - and sometimes spine), but George is the 'master' of the kill. He brings in birds to pluck on the stairs and last Christmas day brought a rat up to my bedroom!! Since then, I have taught him that the word 'out' means i don't want him and his kill in the house!! LOL

maggiewinchester Report 24 Aug 2008 01:06

Mine haven't got collars either - tried once but gave up - they acted like I was trying to strangle them!!.
I had a stray once, she'd been wandering for 2 years (neighbours left her) with a collar on - her neck was a mess, so I'm not too keen. One nearly killed himself wearing a 'victorian collar' for a broken jaw - I soon removed that too!!
Just have to put up with the offerings!!!!
