Depending on the district that you're searching in, you might be better off going through the local registry office for it. You have to pay for any checking points through GRO and if it's not the right one end up paying, I think it's £4 out of the £7. However, many registry offices will check and if it's not the right cert refund you the full amount. |

im trying to find my grandmothers grandmothers birth cert but cant find a birth for her, we know when she was born and died BUT the problem is her parents in 1881 census she has got a different mother than the 1901 and her birth name changes forfm JENKS to JINKS so we dont know who her parents are and thats what we want to know |

A well GRO won't be able to help you with that, you're far better off writing or ringing the reg office of where you think she was born. |
