what they should have above anything else is lights - back and front - and a heavy fine if they don't have them while out at night!!! |

Yes,and have number plates, and all should be sold with lights, proper ones not the silly little flashing ones which are sometimes fitted.**M**. |

a registration plate is being considered by the powers that be,but insurance while riding on the road and pavements would be an idea so that people knocked over by a cyclist would be able to claim if injured. |

been thinking about it - yes, they should pay something - after all there are now cycle lanes and cycle paths everywhere and as for insurance, a cyclist colliding with a person or a car can cause quite a lot of damage, so yes for insurance too. |

I agree Anne, teenagers are the worst for no lights and they wear dark clothing. |

In my humble opinion the answer is yes for the following reasons: |

I do agree, although I think cycling should be encouraged, a test, and insurance make sense. |

my Mum had a mobility scooter - she had no lessons other than a demonstration - I presume you are alluding to some of these "elderly boy racers" and females who plough through everything and everyone as if they have a God given right so to do!! |

I think they are trying to get something done about that because "Some, Not All" are a Bl--dy menace to other people.**M**. |

I think they should have respect for car drivers. I followed 1 that was riding in the middle of the road mp3 player on so didnt even know i was behind him and when he turned off into another road he did not even give an arm signal grrrrrrr. To top it all off he had his helmet on the handle bars of his bike lol. Lynette xx |

As I said I think it would be a good idea but bi would be a logistical nightmare to start it and enforce the scheme. |

Cycle lanes - many of these are paid for by Sustrans, a cycling organisation, not the tax-payer. Sustrans recently benefited from £500,000 to be used for cycle lane provision & other cycling benefits. |

Cycle lanes AREN'T everywhere - I have to cycle down a main road to get to work, I have to resort to the pavement if it's busy as lorries thunder along there and the road is all chewed up from heavy use, another hazard for cyclists. |

Tell me Paul - where do I get such cover & indeed, what do you expect to be covered by such a policy? |

Paul - you're on the wrong board I think. There is another posting elsewhere entitled: 'Answer a question with another question'. |
