Amanda2003 Report 23 May 2008 13:48

I've just had an over the fence shouting fit at my neighbour.

To my shame I totally " lost it " swore and ranted...........they moved in just over a year ago. They have 10 cats ( none of which have been done ).........I have four ( that have been done ).
One of their Toms is a really nasty bit of work and has been making my cats lives a misery for months.........I was awoken by the sound of the tom beating up one of mine this morning.....its just happened again in the front garden.
I had asked months ago if they would sort " George " out,Mrs was all sympathy at the time but nothing has been done .
I wonder if she has got the message now ?

Mrs. Blue Eyes Report 23 May 2008 13:51

Welcome to the club hun, I did the same about a week ago.
Don't feel bad about, it sounds like you put up with a lot before you flipped everyone has their limits

OH

OH Report 23 May 2008 13:52

isn't there a council limit to how many a house can have?
and arn't they meant to be contained?

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 23 May 2008 13:54

Thanks Blue Eyes.............my daughter said " you did good Mum " when I rushed back indoors......she even made me a nice cup of tea........lol

The trouble with bottling it all up is that it all gets out when the lid is finally flipped.

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 23 May 2008 13:58

Doc.........there probably is a limit........they certainly must have lyed when they got this house on an exchange..........she says she has eight but I've counted ten........she lets them out on a rota basis I think ( I have become more than a little obsessed with it all ). It's only bl**dy George who is the real problem..........told her I wanted to fu**ing kill him !!
I've been a cat lover all my life.........I wish they would move.

Eeyore13

Eeyore13 Report 23 May 2008 14:39

There isn't a limit-the Witch opposite me has 8 cats, which used my garden as a litter tray until I got the dog-she doesn't chase them it's just they're too scared.
I blew a neighbour up a couple of years ago,had years of c**p off him & I just 'lost it' the one day,he never bothered me again.... :)

Glenys the Menace! Report 23 May 2008 14:57

Amanda, I'm sure the RSPCA would be interested in these neighbours. Although not cruelty as such, but their cats really should be neutered/spayed. If you Google RSPCA, you'd be able to find your nearest branch, for advice.
Good luck!
Glenys x (Mum to five rescue cats, all done lol)
Carla, I thought you had the cr*p from the cats, not their owners lol
*ducks to avoid Carla throwing something at my good self*

A very anti-social family used to live next door. They had 6 cats and 6 dogs.Their back garden was paved over, so the cats used mine as a w.c.They weren't even the cuddly type of cats, used to snarl and scarper when I went out.The dogs were never taken out for a walk.Only found out that they were illegally breeding the animals, after they were turfed out, because they had 2,000 cannibis plants growing in the house and in the garage.I never tackled them about the cats poo, too much of a coward!
A really lovely family bought the house two years ago, have only had their rabbit 'visiting' occasionally.

I bet you cheered when they left Eileen , so pleased you have nice neighbours now.

The ones next to me are always selling kittens and have a second lot of puppies for sale.....they also have three dogs ( none of which walked ).

I can live with the cat poo......I am an avid gardener
and am actually happier that my four cats are doing all their business in my garden .........my dogs are always chasing her cats off if they come into my garden...........I can cope with all that ( even though I don't agree with their lack of ethics )
It all boils done to the aggressive sexually frustrated Tom cat.........he needs sorting out.

♥ Kitty the Rubbish Cook ♥ Report 23 May 2008 15:41

It's not an easy life for the poor tomcat either..............they get injured by constantly fighting and must be so miserable most of the time.

Have you considered contacting the RSPCA for advice.

Amanda2003 Report 23 May 2008 15:44

That's right Kitty..........I've seen him crossing the big main road at the top of ours..........I've spoken in the past to Mrs in concern for his safety.........deaf ears listen and the voice trots out well rehearsed agreement........but nothing changes sadly.

Claddagh Report 23 May 2008 15:52

Amanda, yes, I was very pleased when they were given the boot.
Would you believe me when I say I never smelled the cannibis at all? Only found out they were going when one of my grandsons phoned to tell me.Then I noticed the big rubbish vans, police, gas & electra. people.....
They used to keep countless birds in their attic. The bird food attracted LOTS of mice, which came in through all the openings in the dividing wall.Creepy!Everything in my attic had to be thrown away, because it was all covered in mice excrement & urine!! Seriously wierd people.
Getting back to the cat poo, you could smell it as you walked down the garden, YUK! If I 'missed'a bit, it was easy to see some time later, because it went all 'hairy'.I tried cutting up fresh garlic into tiny pieces and spreading it around, a special spray that smelled terrible for days on end, nothing helped.

Good luck with your neighbours, hope you manage to sort things a.s.a.p

Sorry to butt in on this thread, but i have been told that cats don't like citrus smells, i do put down sliced lemons and grapefruit bits in my garden and it seems to keep the cats away. I have a cat of my own and she won't go near it. You can also buy a spray that is supposed to keep 'Toms' away and stop them from spraying around doors etc

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 23 May 2008 22:23

Thanks for that Teresa.............most of their cats keep away........my problem is their aggressive Tom beating up my cats.

I must admit I haven't seen any of their cats since I blew up at Mrs.earlier today..........she must have them all shut indoors , with the windows shut.........phewee....it must pong to high heaven in her house............lol

Good for you having a go !!!! hope you feel better for it, I also find a water pistol is good especially when it catches them off guard !!! P,S i do like cats really xxxxxxxxxxx

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 23 May 2008 22:30

I must admit Teresa I felt guilty that I flipped at her but only because I prefer to rise above that sort of behaviour............however , enough is enough , and asking nicely last year got me nowhere. If this doesnt work I shall have to report them to the council.

Claddagh

Claddagh Report 23 May 2008 22:35

Teresa,
Wish I knew about the citrus smell when all those cats used my garden as their loo.It would have been a much nicer smell than the (fresh) garlic and special spray that also smelled of garlic, but many times stronger.Cats don't like that smell, or so I was assured, wish they knew that though.
I love cats, have had them for many years. My daughter who lives 2 doors down, has two.One never leaves their garden, the other is a comic.Large black female, who is getting fatter and fatter by the day, so much so, that her legs seem to be getting shorter..
She often 'visits'my garden, and leaves little pressies for me.Yummy! Somehow, I don't mind her doing this. She is a loveable old fool.

Amanda, hope the cats stay inside, poor things,or that your neighbour gets her tom castrated VERY soon. When the wierd neighbours with all those cats & dogs were evicted, a special firm had to come to fumigate and clean up inside, because of all the fleas and dog poo everywhere.UGH!

Teresa L.A. Report 23 May 2008 22:36

If I were you i would do it, At the end of the day who on earth could manage 10 cats?? I bet the house absolutely stinks.. The Tom cat would be a lot better off being done and might and its a big might become more sociable. It's not the cats fault i blame the owners for not having him sorted in the first place. As has been said previouslt it's down to frustration.

Eeyore13

Eeyore13 Report 23 May 2008 22:39

Apparently if you fill a plastic bottle with water & leave it in the garden it freaks cats out.
If your a good aim a water pistol works a damn sight quicker though!!!!

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 23 May 2008 22:41

Thank you Eileen...........I feel sad for her cats being shut in and I didn't expect her to react like that....but I think they are used to it as I'm sure she lets them out on a sort of rota basis.........some of them are doubles of each other.........hence the reason she claims to have only eight.
She is more than a little mad.
