Thanks Liz, kid's have a way of making you laugh.

We sat in my summer house in the garden and had a toast to my Dad,he loved it in there last time he was here.My grandson carried Dad down there and back up.
It started to rain as we were coming back up to the house, well, the wee one shouted up the lenghth of the garden to his grandad... Grandad,Grandad quick, Jim (ggrandad) is getting wet lol.

Hi Marion, I am glad things went well on Saturday. Your Grandson certainly helped things go the way your Dad would have loved!
May your Dad rest in peace now, his wishes are filled, and may you find the loss gets a little easier to bear as the weeks and months go by and you remember happy times. One day you and your Dad will be together again.
If you had heard the often funny messages that came through Colin Fry on Saturday for people in the audience, you would know this is not the end for your Dad.
My son made us smile when he saw my Dad soon after he died in the hospice. The nurse asked if we would like to say prayers at the bedside and took us there to Dad and closed the curtains round us. My son was then 7 and asked why my Dad's mouth was open. The nurse explained that later she would put a bandage round his chin to close his mouth up and my son was happy with that and not at all scared to see his beloved Grandad at peace after the pain of lung cancer. As we left the building, he said 'Grandad did better goldfish impressions than I can' and we all laughed, it really lightened the moment. Kids are wonderful.
Take care, Marion, have been thinking about you.

Thanks Kitty.

Was quite funny explaining things to my nearly 5 yr old grandson. He wondered how g,grandad fitted in the Jar and wanted to keep him for an extra day lol He also asked about his teeth and could he have them lol
He made thing's a lot easier for us all, especially when he started to sing a silly song about a hen with a wooden leg that my Dad used to sing.
The song goes on :))

I'm sure my Dad would have been chuffed to bit's with all we did.

Well, we scatterd my Dad's ashes over the burn on Sat, where he wanted to go. He wanted brought back home to Scotland to a little village where he was born.
Was a lovely day,the sun came out. We threw flowers in and some purple heather as well as a grouse and soda lol.
He had a lovely send of.

Thank you all very much for thinking of me and your kind words :)).

Only got back lastnight.

I decided against going to see my Dad,but I did go in after the coffin was sealed. I will picture him waving me off on the train the last time we were down.

The music was lovely, Mull of Kintyre belted out as we all went in. The minster was really good.
I had mentioned to her that Dad said if he won the lottery he would b****r off back to Scotland, well she said it, and the whole place was in stitches lol.

Thanks again everyone

Sometimes is is better to put love into hugs, than to put it into words. !!!

I cut and paste that from Nana Lynns thoughts for Tuesday - I thought of it as soon as I read this thread.

Marion, my sympathy on the loss of your Dad. I am glad he didn't suffer altho the shock must have been huge for you all and it so hard when there is a distance involved to sort things out.

Will be thinking about you, especially on Friday.
