Just found this thread Del, wondered how you got on. Well done!!

Glad you raised the money for the British Heart Foundation. My dad died last week of a heart attack (his first at 80 years old) and we are giving donations to the Heart Foundation in his memory.

My daughter did it 2 years ago, I think it was the wettest one they have had, it was awful.

She hopes to do it again when her youngest starts school in a couple of years and then she can train during the day.

i did pass him twice..once at 1 mile and the road at 22 runs along 14 and i saw him when i reached 22... he had all his work mates with him, they were wearing Pimlico Plumbers wrok clothes. but hey so what.... all the companies who sponsor the marathon are doing it to boost their sales and if Buster is willing to do it then so be it...there were loads of marathon runners with their employers logos on their clothes.....good on him I hope i am running still at 94 and 101 if i live that long! :o)

As he stumbled over the finish line at the end of yesterday's London marathon, "Buster" Martin was on course to make history.



But his claim to be the oldest man to complete the 26-mile route is now in doubt after it emerged he may not be quite as advanced in age as he has claimed.



Buster, who works for Pimlico Plumbers, had told organisers he was 101. It now appears he may be a slightly more sprightly 94.

The bizarre dispute blew up after Guinness World Records refused to back up his impressive feat.



Buster, whose real name is Pierre Jean Martin, reportedly told NHS staff that he was born on September 1, 1913, not 1906, as had been previously claimed.



He has previously made the headlines in September 2006 when it was revealed he was the UK's oldest employee.



A source at Guinness told The Times that Buster "appeared to be a fake, and more so, one being exploited by his company, which is using him to promote their services".

However, Charlie Mullins, managing director of Pimlico Plumbers, said: "This is not about a world record but an elderly man doing a great thing for charity."

Buster finished the course in just over ten hours.
