I am changing my provider and want to move my saved emails to a hotmail account I've just set up until I have my new email address with the new provider.

Do I have to manually forward them one by one, or is there a quicker method?

Are you using XP or Vista?
The easiest way is to set up a hotmail account on your computer and download the emails.
I don't think you can forward them en masse to Hotmail or to your new account so if there are a lot it would take æons to do individually.

If you are running XP then you should have Outlook Express. Do you use it currently at all?
It can be configured to download your emails from AOL to your computer.

First make sure Outlook Express is closed and then sign in to AOL.
Now open Outlook Express (OE).
You may be asked if you want to use OE as your default email client - click Ok.
If you are asked to type your name in the display name box, click Cancel and then you may be asked if you want to exit the wizard - click Yes.
Now, in OE select Accounts from the Tools menu.
Click Add and then Mail.
Type your name in the Display Name box as you want it to appear in outgoing e-mail messages and then click Next.
In the e-mail address box type your AOL e-mail name, eg [email protected].
Click Next.
You will see a list for "incoming mail server". Select IMAP.
In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server box type imap.aol.com.
For Outgoing mail (SMTP) type smtp.aol.com.
Click Next.
Type your AOL account name in the Account name box.
In the Password box type your AOL account password and put a tick next to Remember Password if you want OE to save it rather than type it in every time.
Click Next.
Click Finish.

That's the first part - second part to follow in a second.
