Lol Carol that would be great wouldnt it!

Carol became popular in the late 40s i believe? Was it due to Carol Lombard? I think its popularity waned in the mid 70s.

Caz xx

I had never met anyone who had the same name as me until I joined GR.

....but I don't think it's likely to ever be that popular in Hampshire, where I grew up.

Gwyn .....( Gwyneth)

Mine's never been popular in my lifetime and is definitely of an era - but before I was born!!
I wasn't expected to live so was named after my grans little sister who died aged 4 in 1928.

Nice to know my parents had such faith in me lol

SallyF

SallyF Report 4 Apr 2008 07:34

There were never many Sally's at school with me. I was born in the early 60's. Mum was also Sally and she was born in 43.
It's not a name that's used much now I think.
My son is Gregory, which isn't and has never been common, but I think is really nice.
Daughter is Charlotte. There were 5 in her reception class!
We do have a Stanley in the family who is coming up to 11, but I can't see that it's started a trend. :)

cmd... that's great to know I'm not alone...I wa born in 1960. Maybe it was that era type of name. :o))

I love the older names... It was my job to register new calves... they all had older type names and daughters traditionally followed with the same name... ended up with Blodwen the 124th.

Love the names Phoebe and Esther too
