Diana I was home pregnant with my middle child.
The Marchioness was a shocker for me as it was the night I arrived in England.
my friends had picked me up from the airport in the early hours of the morning and decided to drive me through "town" past some tourist spots.
We drove over the Thames and there were police and boats everywhere as they hunted for people in the water...
9/11 I was getting my eldest ready for school and watching on TV.
I went to the cowshed to get my husband and I remember thinking oh boy shes all on now In terms of world security.

9/11 Anne of Green Gables I too was shopping in Abergavenny (Market day) when we saw the pictures on the telly in a shop window and then went back to car to listen on the radio. Could have seen you !!! It was also my birthday.

Aberfan. Was living in London then and was coming home for the weekend to visit mum and dad and they told me as I came off the train. Both my father and grandfather attended Pantglas school in Aberfan so they knew it and still had family living there. Was so distressing for them.

Diana's funeral was the day of my younger's daughter's wedding. After the news that she had died that is all my daughter worried about her funeral being on the Saturday. I tried to reassure her that they never held royal funerals on Saturdays. She spent the morning getting ready for her wedding watching it and crying.

I remembered another one.
The Harrod's bomb.
I was working in Grosvenor House, Park Lane at the time, it was early afternoon and heard it - a deep BOOM - we knew what it was straight away but thought it must be in Oxford Street as it sounded so close.

I was very young during the Aberfan disaster so cannot remember anything about it. I have watched a few documentaries about it and they bring me to tears every time. My childrens Headmistresss was a survivor of Aberfan. My Dad was one of the helpers that helped clear for the rescue. It must have been heartbreaking for them to see.

Diana's death - I was loading a pile of washing into the machine when it came on the news - I remember the TV being on all day and not much else being done at home.

Aberfan - I remember my mum, crying and crying - I was at junior school at the time and I remember her hugging me and crying.

9/11 - at work - driving home that afternoon with Radio 4 and all the other drivers on the M2 driving slowly and everyone looked blank. I had to phone my ex-husband as soon as I arrived home as he was living in New York. I remember my son ringing me from Slough that evening worrying like mad about his dad as the phone lines were all down. I remember the early TV footage with people jumping from the windows. I still hurt when I think about that.

Kings Cross fire - on the underground?

Moorgate? That will test a few memories but that was like yesterday for me as I knew someone involved. I remember my father crying. Not something I ever want to remember. I still can't use tube trains - still find it difficult.

Kennedy? I was a bit too young.

The London bombings? Can't think about them.
