Like I said earlier, we had a convicted paedophile living in the place where I work. We were not allowed to tell anyone. My hubby said one day what a nice bloke he was and I had to grit my teeth.

Well, it all comes down to human rights, Frances. Unfortunately these people are considered to have as many rights as other people and need to be protected. To be honest I think they are worse than murderers in some cases. They ruin lives for their own gratification. This fellow was escorted on to the plane with a large number of officials and treated like a movie star!!!!!

Sue, I understand where you are coming from but believe me it isn't that easy. The law seems to protect these animals rather than the victims.

I am horrified to think that this pervert will be free to roam our streets. Hopefully the authorities will keep a close eye on him and if he ever offends again (God forbid)- life will mean life.

I know Kay, it doesn't bear thinking about. I think I would kill anyone who hurt my children or grandchildren and I'm normally against capital punishment. This horrible thing leaves people damaged for life. They turn to drugs or other self harming acts and often abuse children too. They find it difficult to form normal relationships. These horrible people have no idea or don't care about the damage they cause for just a few minutes gratification.

Joy, they are not interested in "good time girls" - they are interested in children. At least you will know about him - what about the horrible sick people who are never caught and prey constantly on vulnerable children who have no one to tell. They work in children's homes, youth groups etc. and some have abused children for years. We had a priest near where we live (in Australia) who ran a refuge for young boys and was also a principal of a boys private school. He had a talk show on local radio and a column in the newspaper. When it emerged that he was an abuser of young boys and he was to go to court he shot himself. A number of young men didn't get to see him convicted and jailed. Dreadful creatures who need severely dealing with.

Also, age doesn't come into it - doesn't matter how old they are, it is still possible to commit an offence.

I fully understand where you are coming from but, what I think you should consider more is that at least you know ,and more importantly the authorities know who he is - its the close family member that is abusing a child in a family that you have to worry about more - the unseen abuser.
