After Ben's thread last night. Got me sort of thinking.....about how we tend to stereotype people....Like all male hairdressers are gay or all blonde are thick... or all essex girls are sluts....Have you ever thought about how we are stereotyped?


How many of you when going to meets tell friends you are going to meet your geneolgy friends , what pictures must conjour up in their heads?

Aload of people sat about in anoracks discussing graves and such!

lol my mates just look when i say oh im goign to so n so to meet people of gr they say whats that when i tel them i can see them switchign off lol

we discuss ours tree's granted...*Mutters to one self .....them 2 an't going to wind me up tonight...*

And I have never worn an anorack since I was 8yrs....we tak about all sorts.....show pictures of our families.....eat a meal.....mutters call anyone that an't there....and so on......

But Hayley I thought if I was coming up north to your meet I had to dress like Hilda Ogden

Or People from Boro ....carry sacks of coal everywhere.....lol

'tis true we do stereotype people, and I dont' know if thats a bad thing or not...but certainly seems to be part of human nature.

I do thought sometimes wonder what people must think of me or presume what I'm like-there is nothing worse than going to a meet and you hardly know anyone and they have this pre-conceived idea of you-esp if they have never taken the time out to talk to you-but I am me and hopefully the many many people that have met me know me-so I'm cool with that.

Catherine when I first started using the boards. I pictured you as about 55yr old Grandmother with curly hair ....when I saw your pic I was shocked. When I meet you it was like I have known you forever......you are the just you...kind warm friendly genuine.....and after I saw you vomit well we must be nearly sisters......heehee.....
