Hi Ann - only just seen this thread - glad you have lovely clean hair now - sure it will make you feel much better in yourself. I had the same prob when I got out of hosp but I'm by myself so a kind friend who was helping generally suggested and used the same method. Look after yourself. Jx |

when we were little, we used to bath in front of the fire too Gail, in a tin tub, one at each end, my brother and me. My dad would dry our hair by pulling the towel over our heads and pulling it sideways up and down, it was hard to stand still, and always made us laugh - happy memories. |

the strip wash, standing on a towel in the nude, sink filled with warm water, and off to go with the flannel and soap. And this is the bit that makes me smile, I used to be able to put one foot at a time in the basin, standing on one leg - could I do it now - don't know never tried LOL. |

What about washing your hair over the sink in the kitchen you could put a bowl of fresh water on the draining board and scoop out water with a plastic cup if you have one or container. That's how I used to wash my hair many years ago. Or even just put your head in the bowl which is on the draining board so you would not have to bend quite as far down. |

OK, thank you for all your ideas, certainly kept the brains ticking over ad kept us all amused didn't it? However, it did occur to me that I was thinking 'shower', me under water etc. So, being a child of the era when we didn't have showers, had a weekly bath and didn't smell, I decided to strip wash. That just left tacky hair. So, before he went off to play golf and as I felt much better after a good nights sleep, I padded a towel and put it on the edge of the bath, knelt down and hubby washed my hair for me, gave it two washes and was very particular to rinse it properly. bless him he is an angel, my hair is clean and feels great. |

Hi Gail, I never had my hair much longer than a couple of inches below shoulders and always so thin and fine would have been a skinny little pigtail lol I did have a clever 'gadget' that I used that your o.h. could probably do for a change. It was a fabric covered wired thingy, that you wound the hair round and then folded the ends of the thingy back to keep the sort of bun in place, the wiring kept it where you put it. Will have to see if I see any around and send you one, so easy to use. Don't know where mine is or would send that, I keep my hair in a shortish bob now. |

Ann I suppose you have done it by now, but when I wanted a shower, my district nurse cut one of her plastic bags, the ones dressings come in, and taped it over my dressing with waterproof tape. It was a couple of inches bigger all round dressing and worked a treat. Had shower, took plastic off when I was dry, dressing not touched. |
