Yeah I know Sue.

It will have to come from higher up......... I have a horrible feeling that somewhere along the line the human rights act will come into play and it will all come to a shuddering halt.

World's gone crazy xx

A school can't just get a nurse in.

I would also assume that these days any examination of children would have to be done with permission of the parents.

When I was teaching over 20 years ago we had nit nurses sent in but in those days all sorts of things were allowed which fear of being accused of assault has put a stop to now.

I haven't mentioned the name of the school in my letter to the paper........just outlined the problem .....having spoken to people on here I know it's a nationwide problem not just local. It's out of hand now and it needs to be sorted...... if the Edwardians knew how to deal with it.........there's NO excuse for us not to xx

I think a letter to the local newspaper might do the trick.
The school wouldnt want the embarrassment, they'd surely have to take action, and get Nitty Nora in to do a check.

Not nice Muffy

I think if you google though you'll see they are nearly as rampant as nits.

My poor kids would be really upset because we first tried a very nasty medicine they had to drink. Later we found a tablet from the chemists which worked just as well and wasn't as traumatic for them.

It isn't the fault of the school. They can't control what is going on at home.

We were lucky to get through primary school without my kids getting a nits infection but my older one came home the first week of secondary school absolutely full of the blasted things.

Our real hate was whoever it was in the primary school who kept giving my poor kids thread worms!!! We became positively obsessive about handwashing but someone in the class wasn't bothering. I never got them (thank heavens) but the kids had several infections.

Fortunately whoever it was who was the carrier must have gone to a different secondary school because it all stopped then.

Nasty

Sounds like my daughter. When at parents evenings and they're describing her as quiet and polite I keep wanting to ask if we're talking about the same person lol

Absolutely, this is a problem that needs sorting at a national level. Petition the health minister!

Sorry about the itching guys lol.

I don't want to keep her off school Tina as she'd never be there!!!!....... if I had the others willing to speak out we could all threaten a mass boycott and maybe that would set the ball rolling........ but I'm a voice in the wilderness here !!

I'll see if I get any joy from the local paper.......if not....... I'll do as you advise xx

My dad was never ticklish so we had to find a different way to tease him. We discovered that if you scratch your head it makes him itch. Entertainment revolved around scratching your head and muttering "nits, lice..." lol he would laugh as he scratted at his head lol. We were mean to him :-))

Personally, I would keep my child away from the school until the school rectified the situation - its not fair on the children that they have to constantly go through this routine.

Perhaps you should report it to the Public Health Unit at your local NHS Primary Care Trust.

by the way I am now itching like mad !
