I meant if they look too happy.................will customs get confused when they compare the photos to the nervous cats in transit................I thought it was a perfectly sensible question! LOL

Is it absolutely necessary for you to put in a new bathroom suite? i.e. is the old one that bad? you may not recover the cost in the sale.

Is your front door 'inviting'? i.e. a neutral welcoming colour.

Ann, ours is a nice neutral gritty colour, will that do? lol.

McAnne's Gahan-Crazy Report 2 Mar 2008 20:16

Ann - believe me i don't part with my money lightly - so YES it really is necessary to do the bathroom AND the kitchen will be done too.

I have lived with them for 8 years and they were bad then lol

However - I am fortunate in that I work for a big builders merchants and I can get both bathroom suite and kitchen units very cheap :O)

A shoddy kitchen and bathroom are the two things most likely to put people off I think. I don't think you can spend bad money on them as long as you do them neutrally (ie white bathroom suite)

McAnne's Gahan-Crazy Report 2 Mar 2008 20:24

Summer - that's right .....

I have been watching the House Doctor and similar progs for years so i know all the tricks lol

The bathroom will be all white - tiles as well - then the accessories and towels can add the colour.

The kitchen units will be a light maple - again white tiles and I might just add a few coloured ones here and there to break it up.

At this rate it will look so good I won't want to leave it lolol

~Summer Scribe~ Report 2 Mar 2008 20:27

Oh I love maple units, mum and dad's new kitchen in the bungalow is gonna be maple.

I've had to fight brothers to get mum and dad to spend money on the house in order to sell it. They don't understand that it's not about adding value it's about making it so that someone will actually buy it.

I love all those programmes. My fave is 'selling houses' he's very good.

Stray they will have passports but we're not too sure whether they will be allowed to look happy on them. As Anne drives she may just save them the trauma of flying and get the ferry. Errrr......there is a ferry isn't there??? *confused look*

McAnne's Gahan-Crazy Report 2 Mar 2008 20:36

PMSL Julie ........... you always add a touch of je ne sais quoi to any thread lolol

Stray - no - as long as they conform to the requirements of a pet passport (as detailed earlier) they don't have to be quaranteened.

And I will be driving and then getting a ferry cos the car is going with me :O))

Which way will you be going on the ferry Anita?
Daughter & son-in-law (who comes from Ballymena) drive to Scotland or Lancashire (can't remember the name of the port!) because the ferry trip is shorter that way. When my grandaughter was younger they used to go from North Wales to Dublin and drive up to Ballymena, but too many rough crossings made them opt for the shorter ferry crossing and the longer drive :o(

Good luck with all your preparations and the move.

Hi Sue

I will probably drive to Scotland for the shorter crossing - not looking forward to that bit tho, especially if the cats have to travel with me - it's gonna be a nightmare lol x
