ONLY WHEN MINE BREAKS DOWN. IF IT DOES THE JOB IT WAS MADE FOR I SEE NO POINT IN CHANGING JUST FOR THE SAKE OF IT.

I've had three phones since 1999, my sagem just died on me, so I replaced it with a Nokia 3310, which my mum now has, and now I have an LG.

Bought first one (Analogue) in 1995 after I started with a heart prob' to use in emergencies when out on my own. Cost me £18 a month and 50p a minute to do voice. Currently I'm on my 4th one as last one I owned started giving me problems. Ain't a camera fone tho. Girl in shop was gobsmcked when we were talking as she said she had 3 new fones a year! Can't see point of that

Great point, Marion. I often imagine them as flies on the wall saying, "Why isn't that wife spending all day, everyday, cooking, cleaning, washing, ironing . . .? Why do they sit down in front of that square screen and why has it got pride of place in the living room? How on earth is that girl able to find out MY birthday just by pressing a few buttons and filling in something called a "form" on what she calls "the GRO website" when I never knew my birthday myself? And why does that other girl spend hours cooking her hair between two thin, hot metal plates when it's straight already?"

I bought my last phone two years ago in an emergency when I dropped my old one on the floor of the photography building at uni and killed it. (I hardly use the thing anyway.)

OH bought his first NEW mobile last week! Has had hand-me-downs from g.children for about 10 years! As I told the man in shop he still cannot text so does not need something which sings and dances - just makes/receives phone calls. Bought a neat little Samsung for £15. Am impressed - think I will get one as I have never used the games/camera/video etc etc. on mine.

Think I'm on phone number 4 since 1996, I only change them when the battery dies.
