Oh I have got fantastic rates on the rooms! Wedding suit free single rooms £45.00, doubles for £55.00 and Family for £55.00 + £5.00 per child - thats whats swinging up paying more the buffet - and Ive been to look at the rooms and they are v nice - not fancy but v good value for money and full breakfast thrown in for that.

Well we been putting it off for a few years and almost did the Gretna Green but our parents are old and we started to worry about time running out, also last two years we have been busy with huge extension project on house ..... In the end we decided we not going down the 17k Wedding route - If we got it in the bank we can spend it but if not - no!

But would like somewhere our freinds and family can travel to have a great time and a party and be able to stay over if they have travelled far at a reasonable rate.

This ticks all the boxes.

PMPL Hayey - as I said last week I was going to see how hard it was to crash a party there!

I have my outfit already - all Ive got to do is loose weight on the bust and hips - so have me Hula Hoop looking on at me and I keep saying tomorrow.

lmao cheeky mare wasn't she?

Maddie, with breakfast, those sound like good room rates and I do understand about wanting to accommodate people easily. I agree with the sentiment of only spending what you can afford/what you have. Can't understand people getting into heavy debt for it.

Brother got married for second time in south africa when they went on holiday, it was all planned as they all had their wedding outfits, my mother was very upset.

The thing that really annoys me was the wedding we went to last year....we stayed over 2 nights ...the cost of that and present and everything ...coz abit and the night before my 40th she text me and said can't make it tomorrow gotta work...thats the last and final time I ever make the effort for any of his family...

Summer we live by the what we can afford code!!

When your young you get into debt easy - when you are older and have got yourself out of it its not somewhere you go again!

We are simple people - we buy what we can afford and work hard for it. If we cant afford it we go without.

Saying that we dont live on the breadline and we sleep well knowing what we have is bought and paid for no one can take it away - even if its not as up to date as the jones'.

But we are going to break into our rainy day money for a good knees up so everyone can enjoy it and we also know its not easy to stump up for hotel accomodation and petrol to travel so far.

It must be a sign of old age taking this into consideration - first time round too many years ago to count the things that are important now never even entered my head.

Silly Sausage Report 21 Feb 2008 23:01

Maddie OH and I ..live by the same code..

if we couldnt afford it we didnt have it...we never went in to debt....and when I hear the young ones at work talking of how much their mortages are...It makes me cringe..and to how much ours is...but like I tell them...ours cripped us years ago...

Hayley a girl I work with has been bringing a tin of beans in to heat up in microwave for her lunch and had a fiver of petrol to last her till payday!

I know you earn less when you are younger and dont have the experiance and qualifications.......but when she is paid she buys from restaurant every day and spends money too easily.

Ive tried telling her about budgeting and rather than buying from restuarnt make a nice lunch every day rather than eating posh for two weeks then starving ....but whats that saying none so deaf ....

Maddiecow

Maddiecow Report 21 Feb 2008 23:07

Ive done that already Julie :) tomorrow or weekend ill be handing them my cheque.

A nice car is my best problem. Not for me as such - but cutting costs I am not having bridesmaids and such.... My youngest neice is rather heartbroekn so I said she could travel to wedding with me in car ....... I never specified what car lol - but for her I would like someing nice - but not stupid - could prob budget about £100.00.

I know there are 2 young girls that work on my bank of desk....and you can tell when its getting near pay day....as all they do for a week is disguss when they are going to spend it on both have a young child ...each....don't get me wrong they earn it and should spend their money on whatthey want ...then say are you getting anything ? I say if I need it or want it I go and get it....still look for a bargin....will not spen £65.00 on a handbag...coz I wont..but have me hair and nails done when I think they need it...

Yes they do................have some lovely stuff in there for weddings..

Maddiecow

Maddiecow Report 21 Feb 2008 23:18

Yes I can tell you about my outfit ...I got a wedding skirt (Full length) and matching shrug in Silk from Monsoon Bridal Range skirt would have cost £150.00 last season and shrug £65.00 ........ but I went to Clarks Village in Street which sells all last seasons stuff at discount and got the skirt at a fraction of the price .....found matching Shrug in a sale in another Monsoon - but it was marked so negotiated a 70% discount - soaked it over night in Biotext and put in a bra bag on a a cold silk wash in my machine and it is now perfect!!!

The bodice is a Jasper Conran Bridal Range with Dustmarks ...again negotiated a sizable discount in Debenhams but havent washed it yet - as Its a reserve - I've put it all together on a dummy and looks fab but not convinced I will loose enough weight on my bust. So have my eye out for an alternative.

Shoes from BHS Bridal in Jan sales reduced from £45.00 to £18.00 and match Jasper Conran Bodice - a copy no doubt.

I cant do one neice - I have 6 ranging from 15yrs to 25yrs.

If I do one I do all. I have said youngest can travel with me. Thats my concession.
