....some of you may remember last year I started a thread about my daughter? I was concerned because her new boyfriend was 18 years older than her. Some of you were very understanding and helpful and I was so grateful for that at the time.

Just want to let you all know that they are still happy and buying their first house together in 2 weeks time.

Hope they will be very happy together and thanks again to all who replied. You were brilliant!!

Maggy, my partner is a good bit older than me and I spose my parents were a bit taken back to start with but we've been together for 14 years - and as you now know it can be cool:)

Juliecat, I was concerned because he was also married (but seperated) and had an 8 year old son. He had been my daughter's boss for 18 months and she had been his shoulder to cry on when his wife left him for someone else (for the 3rd time!). I eventually decided that the only thing I didn't like about him was his age, and he couldn't change that.

People on here were great and it was good to get advice from people who were neutral.

That's what this site is all about for me.

Uggers, I decided in the end that the best thing to do was step back and let them get on with it! He treats her right and makes her happy, what more could I ask for?

Good for them, I hope they will be very happy, and good for you for standing back and letting them find their way. Now you will always be close to them and not have any unpleasantness hanging over your relationship with your daughter.
