I have to say on behalf of myself and others, I haven't an idea what you are on about but it doesn't sound good. I rely on Genes being a safe site and if it isn't I wouldn't know so many thanks to you out there for helping to keep this site safe for us that don't understand what is happening

I'm disgusted that GR still refuse to issue an advisory statement to all members. I think it's time we all wrote on mass to Watchdog!

From what I have read recently, the problem lies with the flashing adverts and Adobe's FlashPlayer. Although this may not be the 'fault' of GR, this is the site where the problems are being experienced. At the very least, all users should be informed of the problem, what processes are in place to try and resolve it, and any fixes that may be required.

Some members on this site have done sterling work in helping, but it is NOT down to them to sort this. I think we all take our PC security seriously, but GR should be advising us on measures we can take to stop this problem.

No trouble here until this morning.
I was here until early hours and for me all seemed OK.
I have not visited any other site then or this morning before checking in to GR.

...then a very persistant ad. which was difficult to click away.

This problem onsite MUST be sorted.

We need to stick together on this. I dont care if I get a suspension or not, Its more important that all of us know what is happening. All boards and all of us should be wanting to know. This just slid off the page and still people are being affected.

Lets join together and make it known we want some feedback on this now please.

Dont let me knock my head up against the wall alone.

I have received an email from the genes support team that the offending advert has been removed - they stated that "it was an advert which invited people to download an application", and that "anti-virus software picked it up."

No apology though.
