Ancestry UK membership at £79.95 is a bit more than i want to pay,
I'm sure in the past I've heard some of you say that you paid £60+,
was this on an offer?

I used the free trial with them in November,
hoping if i didn't subscribe straight away they would come up with some sort of offer, but they didn't.
Any suggestions?

Try logging into Ancestry & going to subscribe then change your mind & press the back button. I did this & got a pop up offering 20 % discount so I paid £63

Well how unfair is that. I have just renewed, for the 3rd year running, and been charged £79.95.

What a blooming cheek.

I'm not paying out yet got to much rubbish to pay out on at the minute, so still waiting for another few days free trial or something and in the meantime use the one at the library for free... when I can get there but it's oooo sooo tempting to do it at home.

I don't know how to make that work as it looks like it intends on trying to go for the money on the 10th regardless...although it can't do that until I change my card details as the old one expired. lol.

Any ideas what I need to do?

I pay aprox. $100 US for a year, that is aprox 51 pounds.

Does it make a difference if you subscribe to ancestry.com .....or,..... ancestry.co.uk?

Seems like ancestry.com is cheaper.

I'm thinking that I may have to cancel my subscription and then do what you did, Katie. I'm not going to pay £79.99 if I can avoid it, that's for sure.

Might call them tomorrow and see what they can offer me ;-)

~Summer Scribe~ Report 9 Feb 2008 00:17

OK, so maybe I won't phone them as they don't appear to have a phone number on there anymore. Does anyone have a phone number for them?

~Summer Scribe~

~Summer Scribe~ Report 9 Feb 2008 00:18

Looks like that might be easier, Katie. Cancel and renew. Best time I suppose, since I'm ill and not really up to working on it at the moment.

Well it runs out on Sunday, and the strep will hopefully be gone next week. Not sure I can stay away from ancestry for two weeks lol. I think I'll cancel it tomorrow.

Found a phone number 0800 404 9723 have to actually go to the "update my info" page to get it.

~Summer Scribe~ Report 9 Feb 2008 00:37

Will do. :-) And if I get no joy I can still go the cancelling route.

Hi all,
Why not try buying Family Tree Maker 2008 from Amazon.
It is currently £27.99 and post free.
This gives you a free trail of six months and the one on offer just now is XP not Vista.
