Please don't ban it!

I need my chewing gum, I use it to keep my mouth from drying out. I also drink water, but the gum is so helpful.
I would NEVER throw it out in the street (rarely use it in the street), but even at home I warp it in paper before putting it in my bin....... I'm a good girl me, don't ban my chewy please??

Oh I hate the stuff, I was brought up with an aversion to it though that my mum instilled in us.

It can cause stomach ulcers because the mind thinks there is food and causes the stomach to ready itself with the production of acid.

Horrible stuff.

My daddy told me that it was made with elephants toe nails.... I still chewed it.
BUT not when he was around.

personally I would ban the filthy stuff - not only looks disgusting stuck everywhere you look, even in lifts, it is a health hazard and with TB making a comeback I think it is essential it is banned on health grounds. They used to have notices on buses years ago "No spitting". They should bring those back too because young men and young boys seem to spit unnecessarily wherever you look and I blame footballers for encouraging that - they are always spitting.

Oh Stan, that man is so disgusting - always has about six packs in his gob it seems - it looks so bad for a man in his position

People dropping gum are fined in Gloucester if they are caught as well as those who drop cigarette ends and anything else. But they have to be caught first. Musta dmit it is not as bad as it used to be. I don't think enough publicity is given to those fined. I think it would be a good idea to take the publicity into schools because those I see dropping cigarette ends and gum are usually under 15 years old in this area. I would also have somebody stationed by bus stops ready to fine because that is where the stuff is mostly dropped.

I chew gum constantly as I have TMJ disorder and it stops my jaw muscles from seizing. When that happens I can't open my mouth more than 1" and it's extremely painful.

I don't dispose of my gum other than by wrapping it up and putting it in a bin!

next time you are waiting at the traffic lights, take a look at the road surface out of your driver's window - covered in discarded chewing gum!! At least fag ends disintegrate

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 2 Feb 2008 20:44

Fair enough Sue, you have an excellent reason for using gum and of course you must continue using it but you are in the minority in that you dispose of it properly. You must be one in a thousand - a rare breed!!
