Hello lovely people ,I wonder if anyone would be so kind to do a look up for me..
I’m looking for the parents and possible siblings for an Alice Helen Chesser born 1932 in Aberdeen ..I think at some point in her life she joined the army or air force
Thanks

Look for her birth reg on Scotland’s people. Free to search, but EVERYTHING else has to be paid for. It isn’t a subscription site

For such a recent event, your only option will be to buy the cert……no download available

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 20 Aug 2025 20:04

Seems to be on ER to 2016

Quite possibly alive…unless you know otherwise

Sue

Sue Report 20 Aug 2025 20:26

That I’m not sure of..if she’s alive or not..
I did look on scotlands people,I thought I could of downloaded the cert, but sadly no,
I’m not too sure where else to look unfortunately

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 20 Aug 2025 21:23

There isn’t anywhere else.

Unless you write a very carefully-worded letter to the last address the ONLY answer is buying the cert

Are you related?

ArgyllGran Report 20 Aug 2025 22:06

There is no online record of that address having been sold, unless possibly in the last few months, so unless she was only renting, she may still be there.
She was living at that address since at least 2006.

ADDED:
Actually, she probably is/was renting. That building is a block of one-bedroom flats, originally meant for women aged over 60.

Listed with Helen M Chesser, William L Chesser, and William L Chesser junior:

Alice H Chesser
in the Aberdeen City and Former Counties of Aberdeenshire, Scotland, Electoral Registers, 1832-1976
Name Alice H Chesser
Record Type Electoral Roll
Residence Date 1965
Street Address Abbotshall Drive, Cults 33
Residence Place Aberdeenshire, Scotland
Parliamentary Division Parliamentary County of Aberdeen; Kincardine: Western Division

If that's the same Alice, (and she seems to be the only Alice H Chesser ever to be recorded as born in Aberdeenshire) this is her parents' marriage:

CHESSER, WILLIAM LORIMER
MAITLAND, HELEN MARY
1915
168 / 3 / 173
Rubislaw

William was born 1889 in Aberdeen, mmn Milne. He died in 1967 in Peterculter West.

Helen Mary was born in 1889 in Aberdeen, and died in 1969 in Peterculter.

Alice's brother William was born in 1916 in Rubislaw reg district, and died in 1985 in Aberdeen.

William seems to be the only sibling.

Alice was still living at 33 Abbotshall Drive until at least 1975, by that time with only her brother.
Her brother doesn't appear to have married, either.

As she didn't marry, and is still living (unless died in just the last few weeks) there are no further online records for her.
A Google search doesn't come up with anything.

The Scottish 1939 Register isn't searchable. You can apply to see her entry - but for a fee, and only after she has died, and if you know her exact date of death. Even then, it would only be her personal record - not of the whole household.
From the information already discovered, the household would consist of Alice, her parents, and her brother, unless he was away. He was a Lieutenant in the RA in 1941.

What are you hoping to find?

If you're hoping for a service record for her, it won't be online.

She's still living, as far as anyone can tell from online records.
Why not try writing to her, as already suggested?

Is it only Alice you want to find out about, or are you also interested in her ancestry?

ArgyllGran Report 21 Aug 2025 12:45

Oh wow,! Another brother, thank you so much for that..
I would love to be able to find out more about her life, she is a distant aunt, nobody can find out much about her life, there was a rumour that she was in the forces for a while and had visited family in America ,but how true that was I don’t know..she doesn’t live at any of the addresses for mentioned, which makes me think she is either deceased or in a nursing home .x
