This week's episode of Who Do You Think You Are? delves into the family history of Richard Madeley, who is famous for his role as a chat show host with his wife Judy. The episode looks set to focus on his maternal Canadian family history. We've done a little digging ourselves and found some interesting information.

We have discovered that Richard's ancestors had varied occupations, such as painters, farmers and dress makers.

Firstly we have looked back at his Great-grandfather Henry G Madeley, who in the 1881 census was living in Shropshire and was listed as being a Grocer's Shopman.

In the 1881 census Richard's great-great-grandfather Henry Madeley was a farmer of 120 Acres in Shropshire

Thomas and Edith Freeman who are Richard Maleley's great-great-grandparents were listed as being a Miller and a Dress Maker in Warwickshire in the 1871 census

Finally we have discovered that Richard's great-great-great-grandfather, Thomas Featherstone was a Painter Master in Leicestershire. Below we have found him in the 1851 census.

With roots in Canada, tomorrow's episode on Richard Madeley looks set to be an interesting one. The team at Genes Reunited will be on facebook and Twitter during the show so make sure you join the conversation.
