Hi Allan :-)

How did it go in the Doc's?

Hi GP :-)
I've had a busy day today, so a bit tired, and not well oiled tonight unfortunately :-D :-D
Hope you are ok! Didn't you go to the Doc's today too?

Kidney Beans

Hi Jem

Doc's visit was as usual. First see nurse who checks BP and Sight

BP 169/93 look of shock from nurse :-0

Eyesight fine, no requirements to use glasses whilst driving

Then in to see the Doc. She says ' take your jacket off, I need to check your BP!'

Me " The nurse has just done that!"

Her, "just take it off!"

Takes BP again; now down to 124/60 :-S :-S

Any way I am now OK to drive for another two years :-D

She also gave me my new scripts and blood test forms. Then she said, "You're 66 aren't you" "Yes'

She snatched the blood test form back and scribbled on it about having an additional test for Prostate Cancer.

Hey ho! I'll get my bloods done and then see her again in two weeks time for my Diabetes review :-D

Lemon (me!)

Oh Yes! I do look forward to our six-monthly chats. The time before last, when I didn't see my own GP, I ended up having an ECG! :-|

Oh dear!

So what exactly happens when it's not your usual GP, that makes your blood pressure appear so erratic? Or is that a stupid question :-S

Oyster Mushrooms

Peanut Oil

It's a syndrome called White Coat Hypertension.

I do have high blood pressure and take medication for the condition. When I take my own blood pressure at home it is within normal limits, but when I go to the doc's or have any sort of test, it shoots up.

Mind you, when I was diagnosed 15 years ago with gall-stones and it turned out to be a Pulmonary Embolism that nearly killed me, it's mo wonder my blood pressure rises :-|

You were lucky then Allan :-0 :-0 :-0

What is it you have to take? Statins?

Rapeseed Oil

Allan

Allan Report 18 Aug 2014 23:32

I do take statins but they are for lowering cholesterol levels.

I take a mixture of three other drugs for my blood pressure

Actually, one of the pills (Caduet) is a combined statin and BP pill

Sunflower seeds

JemimaFawr Report 18 Aug 2014 23:35

Of course Statins are for reducing cholesterol! My brain is malfunctioning tonight! :-D :-D

Do you get joint pains as a side effect of the Statins?

Tangerines

Allan

Allan Report 18 Aug 2014 23:47

Not really, Jem, but I do suffer from Arthritis in my thumbs, but whether that has been caused by the pills I don't know, although I doubt it.

During my career I've had to do a lot of meat inspection which involves much gripping with the thumb and fingers, which could have brought it on

Veal (speaking of meat inspection :-D :-D :-D)
