I'm proud of myself today. I've taught myself how to burn to disc, and have burned all my Family History documentation and all my photographs to two discs!
I've always been worried that if something happened to my computer, I would lose everything- so now they are all backed-up :-) :-)

Jem, I have an external hard drive to which I use for back ups. I did use discs but once we started using digital cameras it was too much of a clat. Now every so often I just do a back up and over write the previous files.

The other good thin is that it can be connected to our DVD recorder so that we can see the pics on the main TV

I can do that with my camera. The photos aren't brilliant on the tv though.
They printed out well. Grandson thought the pictures of him and his siblings were better than the school photos they have taken.
I suspect it was more the fact that it was more relaxed and informal.

Keep going sideways.
A lot of people when doing their trees only go backwards in a straight line. But I have found, by going sideways to extended family and their descendants. Sometimes, even people seemingly not related, that have been listed in homes on Census', will lead you to missing links that will help you find what you've been looking for.
It takes a lot of time and patience however!

There are only 7 Posts after this one to the 18,000th Post. Do you think something should be put on that Post about Sandie?

Allan

Allan Report 9 Jun 2014 13:20

Absolutely :-)

Sandie was a much loved and respected member of GR :-)

I honestly had not been keeping an eye on the number of posts, only that Sandie would have wanted it to be kept going.

*****PLEASE WOULD YOU ALL KEEP A COUNT OF THE POSTS ON THIS THREAD TO MARK THE 18000th THREAD FOR SANDIE, WHO STARTED THIS THREAD AND DIED LAST YEAR.

I didn't know her myself, as I am relatively new. It would be nice if those who knew her could contribute.

Strange that Sandie said to ignore Q as there are quite a few food with Q.

Anyway, I just popped in to say, I don't do quizzes, well hardly ever, and Sandie knew that. Just trying to boost towards the 18000.
We miss Sandie so much, miss her sense of humour and her 'down to earthness'. <3 <3
